Square releases next name in FFXIII cast & battle info

Japanese-based magazine Famitsu has revealed the name of the latest character in the Final Fantasy XIII line-up to the masses – namely, female heroine Dia Walruva. We're detecting a similarity between Walruva and her compatriot Oerba Dia Vanille, as both possess the word Dia in their names. Chances are we can expect further characters to follow the same pattern.

As for the battle system, Famitsu revealed that the entire combat design has been completely streamlined. The mob that you see on screen, is the exact same mob that you will do battle with. On top of this, the transition from exploration to battle is near unnoticeable and quite refreshing.

While both new tidbits of information are welcomed, we're still waiting on a solid release date to show up.

    i know i should be excited but the release of a new name just doesn't cut it for me with kz2 coming around next month. still when they nail down a definite release date then i might start to remember names.

    I take it Walruva is Lightining's name, right? If so, the Dia on both hers and Oerba's name could indicate that they dont belong to cocoon.

    don't take this the wrong way, but where are all the guy characters? i think there's only one announced so far, right? and his name is...SNOW? come on Square Enix! We need more Barrets, or Cids (Cid from FF7) - I'll even take a Irving or Steiner! No more of these sexually confused (usually dull) characters please!

    first off, LOL! @3! i agree completely. mind you though we did have CLOUD from FF7 and now his name is the biggest in the FF series. so we now have cloud, snow, and lightning. may i suggest RAIN nexT? or perhaps HAIL?

    seriously though im a little nervous about the distance gap closing between exploration and battle, mainly because exploring is one of my favourite things to do, and i can run away from any battle that gets in the way of my exploration. so yeh a litlle unnerving.

    @4

    We had a whole weather system family in FF8! Don't you remember Raine, Laguna and Squall? "When it rains in a lagoon, it makes a squall." If we're going ot continue with the weather names in FF13, at least give the guys cool names: Hurricane (come on - Cane or Cain would be a sweet male character), or Tornado (Nad or Nado - not so cool). But my guess is the next male character name will be...Sleet! No...no...Frost! Dew? Chill? What about Drizzle?

     my guess is they could be sisters because not only do thy have the Dia in there name the booth look alike . Same hair color and same eye color(i think). Maybe Lighting is Oerbas' older sister.

    That name is utter dog dirt, I can't even remember it 10 seconds from hearing it, now I've checked again they sound even more daft, Walruva and Oerbia? These names absolutely do not suit Lightning and Vanille, why can't they sound good like Noctis or Tidus?

    The battle system does sound pretty awesome though, I look forward to trying it out, but not as Walruva...yuck
