Stranglehold delayed once again

No sooner than anxious PlayStation 3 owners get closer to the release date of the John Woo title, Stranglehold, it seems to slip away to a later date.

Originally scheduled for release on September 17th, North American PS3 owners will now have to wait for their Tequila fix until the 25th, and Europeans until the following month.

The PC iteration of the new action series has also been delayed, with the title now postponed until September 18th and 21st in North American and European territories, respectively. The Xbox 360 version, however, remains on track for its proposed September 5th release in North America, with a European version following on September 14th.

All games were planned for a concurrent release, though the delay will do little to matter at this point, as the final product should be well worth the wait. Stay tuned for full coverage of the game here at PSU later this month.

I was under the impression that PS3 was the primary developement platform, but it seems I was wrong.

The generation in general is lousy with delays. It's no surprise. The companies in general are simply not doing their best to understand when these games should truely be ready. either that or they're strying to spread out the released seeing as everything is coming out within a week o each other. My copy of Lair just shipped, and Heavenly sword is the week after that. Strangle hold would have been right on it's heels and this is all assuming that I didnt buy Warhawk which a lot of you did, It's a gameing flood all because of delays and I'm not mad at someone putting their finger in the dyke so slow things down a little.

Im officially done with this game.. if these guys cant make the deadline then they should have never made a date.. especially delaying it even further everytime it gets even close to release. I urge people to do the same.. Midway is cool, but this is rediculous.

This is what happens when you attempt to port from the 360. Now, even the PC games have been suffering. Haze, an FPS, was canned for the PC. Now that we honestly think about it, who was TRULY trying to be different from everyone else?

    eh Haze is a PS3 game..not a 360 game..

hey GINGO!! RENT lair first, i bought, and it is pretty bad. The visuals and everything, and story are superb. but the controls are what is bringing this titles down, they are not like HORRIBLE, but they need to be tweaked a little more, and the camera angles while playing need to be tweaked..

oh, and that cool part about throwing your big chain thing to latch on to other dragons, killing the rider and dragon, and then jumping off. yeah, that doesnt happen....

ps3 is new and hard to develope for, would u rather it came out on time and be another madden, delay is probably due to them fixing it and improving it, u ppl jump to stupid conclusions

    • 1:14pm BST - September 1st, 2007

This game is probably a piece of s*** anyway. I don't want it. I'm sick of companies screwing PS3 owners over. It's bull****. I hope more PS3 owners DON'T BUY THIS GAME. If you buy it all you're saying is "hey, we don't care if you screw us over, we're still going to buy it." That sends a message to companies that they can delay games endless amounts of times and get away with it.

Why are there so many delays! Every games that comes out is delayed! Whats going on out there. Sony needs to step in! This was a fun demo to play on the 360 but i only see myself renting it.

What a way from going from a possible sale to a rent only.  Wow, if I had delays like this in my job, I'd be fired.

Eh, not surprised....I feel like its kinda weak because the ps3 CE comes with the hardboiled on the disc....that should be a big deal, and a big enough deal to get the game out with the other version.  Why, after all the good things, are we still being left out....

I honestly don't think I would mind delay's so much if they would tell us why,it's always like release date is so and so and then delay, begin speculation as to why.Game industry is screwy this year

  26. gameoholic | Demented007

    • 10:48pm BST - September 1st, 2007

Don't really care, Stranglehold doesn't look that good anyways, for PS3, or crapbox 260. There are way better games coming out that I look forward to playing, and that are more exciting on the PS3, like Haze, URT3, & Killzone2. It is simple as this everyone, Stranglehold is overrated, and they could have done better. WHAT A JOKE!!!

It seems like none of the developers where ready for "next gen consoles". I dont remember any of the previous generations having such a crap line up of games a year after release. There are very few games and precious few that are any good. Im not surprised PS2 is still selling when the PS3 selection is this weak. A few of you seem to also own Xbox360's but I cant think of moving to that until they fix the hardware issues and make the thing reliable. - Right now I'm still a one console owner but Im tempted to put more interest in PC as its the only platform that is guaranteed. Problem is its also the most expensive for hardware - but then again its the best and its the cheapest for games... The Wii sounds good but Im not sure Im into casual party games that much. For PS3 its been a long and boring wait for something to do - and please - no one suggest that I should watch bluray movies while I wait!

I personally don't mind the delay. Lets at least be thankful it's no more than a few days, rather than a few months. Patience, people: it will happen soon enough. Damn, typing with the virtual keyboard is a pain. Speaking of 'pain', anybody else looking forward to that?
