Sucker Punch Game Director Nate Fox has indicated that InFamous will include Trophy support, describing the feature as “videogame crack.”
“We'd be complete and total jackasses not to support Trophies - they are videogame crack and everybody knows it,” said Fox, during a live chat with Eurogamer.
Elsewhere, Fox also hinted at the possibility of a demo release in the future, though was slightly less forthcoming on the prospect of downloadable content.
“You can expect to see some downloads from PSN closer to our release date, but as far as downloadable content, you'll have to wait and see,” he said.
InFamous is due for release on PlayStation 3 in Spring 2009.

The truth, and I stick to this, is that we never needed trophies OR even achievements for that matter. As long as a game is good you don't need a bribe to convince you to continue playing, and that's what they are. But with game prices higher this generation they realize that the collector mentality exhibited by many gamers is a serious part of our make up and these collectables are somethng developers realize also extend the life of a game because you keep going back to play it for the sake of that addiction to collecting things. I mean c'mon man, almost every game we've played in our child hoods that dosent require shooting people in the head require us to collect things, From PacMan pellets to Super Mario coins and Sonic rings to any RPGs with levels and more powerful weapons. Heck look at LBP's main game, it's all about collecting things so that you have them to work on your own levels!
They are crack in their pureist form, because the feed that greedy voice that drives gamers to get everything on a stage or keep going back to WoW and spend midnight in the freezing cold to buy the expansion so they can collect more stuff.

@Alpha - Sure we don't "NEED" trophies/achievements but then again... who really "NEEDS" crack? It's just one of those little things that make life better :D lol. Ok, I'm not endorsing crack.... :P lol.
You counter with the fact that we didn't need such things in the oldskool days of games... but would you of turned those down had they been a part of those games back then? No. You wouldn't, because they just compliment the experience by making you explore the game more and thus allow you to get more out of it. Would it not be a trip to try to get SMB3 done without the use of any mushrooms or shortcuts?
Actually, now that I think of it, people have been collecting personal trophies for years with such ways to play. They make up immaginary rules and try to better their gaming in the process. Trophies just give them something solid to show their hard work in that reguard.

The one true beauty of achievements/trophies is it motivates me to go back and play through a game more than once. Of course, the game has to be good, but what achievements/trophies do is have me play the game differently to get those artificial points. I'm almost through with RFoM 2 for the 2nd time. I have all but two campaign trophies. He's right, they do add to gaming.

Back in the days we had highscores. I like trophies, but then I loved highscores. I would like to see a ranked list for trophies, both friends and global.
Let's say you skipped work a few days, maybe you even quit work and started to live on welfare for a year or two. When you finally get back into society everyone will think that you have wasted two years of your life. But, now you can just show them wrong by showing them your two new Platina trophies. Suck on that. :P

@5
lol to you my friend! I completely agree with you! lol
Im a trophy hunter too, not addicted! I dont buy all the trophy enabled games nor do I buy games on sole purpose of getting its trophies! When I finish a game I usually dont play it anymore! Trophies in Uncharted gave me a lot o value for the money i spent on that game! Even though I´ve played it and finish, the Thophies made me play the game 3 more times from beggining to end! I loved it! Trophies give you a reward for playing beyond the normal game playtrough! Way more!

I still think they should incorporate some level of motivation or initiative (correct me if I'm using the wrong term) to collect them. What I mean, is if you complete a certain amount of trophies then you could be eligible to win a chance at a psn game or a free expansion pack/skin/upgrade or a promotional freebie or something......I don't know. Ya know what I means???? Of course there would be a lot a competition but if they came up with some way to give back to the players who spend all that dough to buy their game and upgrade it, that would make trophies for me more gratifying and worth it. Otherwise, I don't really concern myself with the trophies I have or my psn friends have. I really don't care.

Trophies are great yeah fun. But the only thing i wish they were actually worth money. To a point system(yes like xbox's, only good thing i agree with they have)
@12 i think its just if you want to add him to ur friend list. Wether to agree or disagree with what he has said or maybe just to play some games. Either way am guessing he doesnt know we can just click on his s/n to check his psn id.

@hush404
I'm not saying I dont appriciate Sony starting up the Trophy list on PS3, frankly we HAD to have it if only to shut up the Xbots about how wonderful their online is (really at this point I'm ready tos ay we are EQUAL especially since ours is free.)
I just hate that it had to come to this to convince them that their games have replay value. I have my fair share of Trophies, Burnout paradise practically buries you in them. I just dont like feeling like the only reason I play the game is to get trophies when it should be the game itself that is the reason why you play it.
