Chris Taylor, founder of Gas Powered Games, revealed to UK gaming publication Pro-G that a console version of Supreme Commander is in development.
In response to whether Supreme Commander would be the first real-time strategy game with a perfect console control scheme, Taylor gave positive hopes.
"I hope so. That's our goal. Especially not to talk too much here because you've almost made me confess that we're working on it...no actually you have. That's good. I like that. This is a secret I want to share”, he said.
Taylor didn't state which platforms the game would be coming to, but he did say it would likely arrive on the Xbox 360 first.
Addressing a PlayStation 3 version, Taylor states, "The hardware is more complex, but it's not out of the question. It's just more time."
Stay tuned for more developments as we get them.

I really enjoyed playing this at the beginning of the year but have not played it for the last 6 months as too many other quality distractions on the PC right now. Its good to hear that PS3 will get a cut down version in another year ....or two...
Joke.

Great, if its anything like CNC3 on the Xbox, count me the fudge out. That was by far the most frustrating RTS since the original CNC on the PSone.

Funkybudda: so if a game is not on PS3 first, you won't play it. Sounds a little stupid to me

This game would work very well on the PS3. I'd buy it just to see it run on my 65".

I'm a new PS3 owner, and one of the big reasons I chose the PS3 over the 360 was Sony's lack of prejudice against using a mouse and keyboard as a way to control a game. When I read that UT3 was coming to the PS3 with native mouse and keyboard support--well, that pretty much sealed the deal.
Although I'm no stranger to consoles, I'm a PC gamer too, but I just got fed up with upgrading/replacing my computer every few years. The PS3 seemed like the way to go.
I imagine there are probably a few of you on this thread (such as Nosferatu and Battlecraft) who'd like to see more titles offer mouse and keyboard control. After all, UT3 is great, but why stop there? Games that are already out (e.g., Oblivion) could benefit from some sort of hypothetical "mouse and keyboard patch", and if it becomes accepted practice to include these control options for future releases, we might even dare to dream that something the likes of Starcraft 2 might eventually land on the PS3.
This all leads me to one question: is there any kind of coordinated effort to get this to happen? In other words, are the gamers that want this option added letting developers know? If so, where do I sign up? If not, how can we get this thing started?
For all those who don't care for mouse and keyboard control, let me make it clear that I'm simply advocating an extra option be made available--not that anyone would be forced to play this way (although I have a hard time picturing playing an RTS with a mouse and keyboard (Herzog Zwei for the Genesis being the one exception of note).

i def. agree w/you. they should make more games support mouse + keyboard for the ps3, the more control options the better. i bet if UT3 sells good the support for mouse and keyboard might become more popular thus making it an available option more often than before in games. could you imagine playing killzone or resistance w/a mouse + keyboard? i like using mouse+keyboard for certain games -

I want command and conquer on the PS3 badly (with keyboard support) plus i agree that a lot of games on the PS3 would bennefit from supporting Keyboard and mouse control, especially FPS's, i always find that i can aim a lot more acuratly and get their quicker with the mouse

The PS3 version should have keyboard support. I played the RTS game Lord of the Rings on 360 and the controls were not good. EA used the same control scheme for C&C3 as they think they nailed it, I tried the demo and again it doesn't work and this time it was worse because C&C3 is a faster game. They should of released a PS3 version and you can play it with keyboard and mouse. Also in the PC version of C&C3 from the footage I saw, the in-game UI was on the right of the screen which is particually good fro widescreen monitors but why did EA choose to have the in-game UI on the bottom of the screen for 360 where its in the way?

I knew I wasn't alone! And I'm sure there are more of us out there who would like to see mouse and keyboard gaming on the PS3 a reality. The question is, how do we get this to happen?
You see, I'm NOT so sure developers realize that there are plenty of gamers who may have decided that $400-$600 for a PS3 was a steal compared to paying the same amount just to get a new PC video card (and then another one 3 years later, etc.) Or maybe people just want better control while having the added benefit of viewing games on a big screen living room TV instead of on a computer monitor, and moving the family computer out to the living room just wasn't going to happen. For whatever reason, there ARE those of us who'd like to see this happen! So how do we let them know?
I'd guess that supporting the effort by buying UT3 would be a decent start. It's on my wish list anyway. But I think we need to do more than that, especially for the companies making FPS and RTS games. It will probably cost a little extra to program games to accept mouse and keyboard control on the PS3, so we'll probably have to convince them it's worthwhile. Whether that will take emails, letters, phone calls or what I'm not sure. But we should probably band together on this one. I'd be happy to get in touch with anyone who would like to discuss this further, and if anyone has any more ideas on the subject or can point me to a forum/blog/website/etc. where this is already happening, so much the better.
