Sony has provided more information on its forthcoming motion controller through a press release, featuring details on the controller’s physical specs, and what games are in the pipeline. Sony is touting that the ‘high-precision’ motion sensors in the controller will deliver a new entertainment experience to the PlayStation 3 when combined together with the PlayStation Eye camera.

The new controller is equipped with two motion sensors, three axes gyroscope and three axes accelerometer that can detect the controller’s angle and movement. Coupled with the Eye camera, the motion controller will detect natural and intuitive movements of the hand and reflect the precise movement on to the game. The ball on top of the controller tracks the controller’s position, but it also gives visual feedback to the gamer by changing the color or the illuminating patterns. The controller will also come equipped with a rumble feature.

Sony also provided a list of software titles from SCE Worldwide Studios.

its clunky on the wii i can't imagine it being much different.  in my opinion they should be focusing on making great games, the duelshock 3 is all we really need

@ 3 this is far and away better than what the wii offers. Check out the demo vids on the Playstation blog this has the ability to bring accurate immersive motion control to the core gaming audience.

@3 You should see the E3 footage then. It's not like the Wii where there is a predetermined action to a motion or a crusor moving over a 3-D plane. If you move your hand in a certain motion the motion is perfectly mimiced on the screen in real time. I'm sure this will vary from game to game though.

For some reason it seems like this migt be awkward when used in Pain. I just can't see myself playing that game with anything but the Dualshock 3.

This is far more advanced than the Wii and Natal combined.  Wow i'm impressed Sony. That list of games far exceeds anythat that is offered on the Wii. I see Sony coming out on top by the end of 2010.  (maybe sooner I hope)

Quite looking forward to this new controller. I'd like to see a few hack and slash games, like using a star wars lightsaber or sword.

Three axes gyroscope; and three axes accelerometer:

    So it has six axes...

    So it's a Sixaxis...

So far, all of the games sound like casual shovelware, a.k.a. crap.

@13. If im not mistaken, didn't stony state that the motion controller will have backwards compatibility with a few games via patch or something? Well if its true then you can probably use  a light saber in the apprentice.
