THQ expects PS3 price cut later this year

THQ CEO Brian Farrell has said that his company expects Sony to cut the price of PlayStation 3 at some point later this year.
Speaking during the company’s year-end earnings call last night, Farrell described Sony’s black behemoth as a “challenging” format, before adding he doesn’t anticipate a price drop at E3 next month.
“We’re not expecting a [PS3] price cut at E3, but we do expect one later in the year,” he said. “That’s just our guess… [and] not based on any knowledge from Sony.”
THQ announced a loss of $431 million for the 12 months ended March 2009, a substantial loss compared to the previous year’s $35.3 million.

lol why do people from other companies say this i could say this and it would still probably be right, and 35 million is still one heck of a loss and 431million is crazy geese they have alot of money and yet they dont seem to be going into like bancrupcy if so i havnt herd anything about it, lot of money in the video game world

This is what THQ and other devs want not what they know. Devs are to damn lazy anyway they will go make games for the 360 because its easier. The sad thing is they don't like a challege when making games they say they do but they don't so thats why the PS3 has had to struggle when it comes to some games. I know devs are on a time limit to get product out but STILL.

Seriously. I mean I don't get why the marketing department has not tackled the biggest diferences that separate the PS3 with the 360. I have both and I pay 40-50 bucks a year for Xbox live where PSN is totally free! I mean if I were a parent that would be the deal breaker in my mind(not to mention the blu-ray).
Also the PS3 lets you back up your HDD where the xbox doesn't. You also can upgrade the PS3 HDD with a standard 2.5 drive without having some special microsoft coding.
I'ts simple to see that the PS3 is more advanced and already a great value but they have a hard time getting that info to the common parent who is just comparing "prices of video games".

This just in- "Optimistic poor kid expects ps3 price cut this week!" lol . I like how the ps3 is expensive, it keeps out the riff-raff. If you cant afford one at the price now, how do you expect a 50 dollar price drop to affect this? Unless thats your entire kraft dinner and kool aid budget! lol

The only reason I will be happy about this is it will put sony over the top. I got a 60 gig not too long after they came out so I spent my 600 bucks, and personally it was worth every penny. Top of the line graphics, top of the line gameplay, Sony can't be beat. Xbox can duck out of this gen and claim victory, but in the end on Sony's time (10 years) who will really have sold more really look at PS1/PS2.

What I'd like to know is: Why hasn't anybody in the media been calling for a 360 elite price cut when the 80GB PS3 is exactly the same price? Even though the PS3 HDD size is smaller, it still outclasses the elite in features by a country mile (mainly wireless and HD drive). Yet not a single person pops off about ms still charging intro prices on an older & inferior product. How convenient.
