According to Team Ninja director Yosuke Hayashi (Ninja Gaiden Sigma), the PlayStation 3 has the most potential out of current generation consoles and is the most powerful system available on the market.

"For the PlayStation 3, we do not believe that we've seen the fullest of its potential from any standpoint," said Hayashi.

"The developers have been releasing products, but there is a bigger potential. There is greater potential, and we see that possibility the most in the PlayStation 3. It's going to be up to us developers and Sony to make sure that that does happen."

Hayashi further added that he believes the PS3 the most powerful system available, but that games developed exclusively for the console will be greater than that on the Xbox 360 because developers will be able to put 100% focus into using the systems strengths.

Hayashi added that he believes Sony’s black box is the most powerful games console available, and agrees that games developed exclusively for one platform would be of far better quality than if they were created for multiple consoles.

"For any developer that's been working on all of the platforms that are available today, I think they would agree that the PlayStation 3 is the most powerful system out there," said Hayashi.

"I agree that if we work exclusively with one console that the final product will be a better game than if we were to create it simultaneously for multiple platforms.

”Each system has its own philosophy behind it, so it's a matter if you can concentrate and focus 100 percent to adapt to that, or if you're going to have to balance that out with other titles."

Tell us something we don't know.  Like if people are going to start developing using its power...and Gears is overrated.  Always has been.  So is Halo 3.  Who can honestly argue with that?  Not only that, but Resistance was always second rate anyway.

This everyones knows since years ago, even before the ps3 came out but if dev's don't want to risk investing more money in making games for ps3 than they will never have a product which could of been as good or even better than mgs4!

Shaka, what are you on about? The 360s slightly better gfx card, decent cpu akin to ones in powerful PCs, has uma not numa. It's been let down on HDD, dvd space and probably that shared bank between cpu and gpu.

PS3 has got the advantage, but it's been proven negligable time and time again.

Well I really start to doubt that. Dont think i am an unhappy ps3 owner, i am really happy. But every single multiplatform game release until now have shown the same and even in some cases lower quality graphics than the 360 version, hence Fallout3. Even Bioshock graphic turn out to be the same as the 360 version even with one year delay. Although R2 and specially Killzone2 really have impressive graphics, although it is impossible to happen, but it might be good to see how 360 handles them. I think the only game that will really show us the difference will Final fantasy cause that game has been made for the ps3 from the start . But until now no multiplataform game has shown to be better (graphic wise)  in the ps3. And now that i think about it, where are the FFXIII gameplay videos they said they were going to post around this time X.

    • 8:59am GMT - November 4th, 2008

psn id: gingo.... exclusive games built on each console are always better because it can use the console to its full potential and this isn't just the ps3 this goes for, resistance 2 will be amazing for ps3, gears will be amazing for 360 and this is coming from someone with only a ps3

@3, that doesn't make any sense at all.  He never said it was fact and since it's coming from him it's obviously an opinion man, come on now.   I too agree that Gears of War is extremely overrated but it is a good game anyway, it still is overrated though.

Shaka, what the heck are you talking about, the GPU is fine in the 360 so is the CPU.  Remember that the 360 is based on PC hardware pretty much, so developing a game for the 360 is ALMOST no different then developing for the PC.

A little slow aren't we 'Team Ninja', I'm just kidding I loved NGS I liked it more than Uncharted:DF but probably like Uncharted2 more. Gears2 is awesome, Resistance 2 will probably be better than it overall but it's more highly rated because it really is pushing the Xbox360's limits. I didn't know the 360 could perform like that. Well done to 'Epic Games'.

It's like this, xboxed down, I mean sorry, dumbed down. If m$ and $ony were construction companies, m$ would use prefab materials, you know walls, windows, things like that. It's cheaper, it's faster, but less durable. Whereas $ony would build you a house out of bricks, strong, durable, but more experience. Now if you were an indi company what company would you go and develop houses for? M$ right? I would, but I don't think you can build an architectural marvel out of prefab materials.

    Same goes for both systems:

    "
Hayashi further added that he believes the PS3 the most powerful system available, but that games developed exclusively for the console will be greater than that on the Xbox 360 because developers will be able to put 100% focus into using the systems strengths."

Also, the PS3 does better calculation, while the 360 does way better in the graphical department. I DONT CARE.. in a situation like Fallout3 (ps3 version is buggy, 360 is not), I'd just go for the smoothest running version. Though I'm keen on my black and shiny console. But the other's games are the same and cheaper!

Wow! This guy is a F*#%ing genious! Who ever knew the PS3 was the most powerful console? I really thought that the Wii was the real beast out there. Maybe it has something to do with the PS3's high price and being the latest released console? hmm ill have to think this one over big time...

does anybody else here believe this really isnt that important? It only means something if developers actually start using that power.  I mean I have an old NES that i rigged with a small nuclear reactor. Its now nuclear powered, but its still only plays 8-bit games. I dont go around bragging that i have the most powerful gaming platform.

none of the consoles have reached their potential, this guy obviously looked at the specifications for each consoles but couldn't tell the differences between the two cpus a graphics cards so he "believes" that the cell has eight cores and (although no one seems to know) that the PS3 has a better graphics card

I have to agree with Bigdoggy. There is nothing wrong with the 360s GPU.

How can the PS3 be "the most powerful system out there" when the 360 GPU beats it down? Out where? Where is this place he speaks of? Where there's no 360s???

Bluray doesn't equal more power. Not that it was stated here but it seems a general mistaken belief.

  31. Free_Agent

    • 3:04am GMT - November 5th, 2008

Yeah, I agree with bits and pieces of everyones post's. Both consoles have their strong points. I would argue that the 360 has a superior GPU, but the PS3 has a superior CPU. Of course depending on who you talk to, the cell can be looked at as a bad choice for a gaming console, regardless of how many cores it has. Even if it had 20 cores, it only means devs need to spend much more time to squeeze the juice. The PS3 does feel much faster just browsing around the menus etc.. than the xbox does. In the end it all comes down to what developers are able to take advantage of. If developers eventually get a chance to squeeze every ounce of power from the PS3 it will be a great thing to behold. Its funny really, because both systems are capable machines, it's just that MS is ahead in sales not only because of the price, but game selection. Obviously both have their great 1st party titles, but multi-plats are almost always better on 360. If Sony can get their act together, keep what exclusives they have left, continue pushing out quality first party software, and combine this with a more digestible price point, they have a great chance at bringing the playstation brand back into the spotlight.

gears 2 is so boring man, i give this game a 6/10.

ninja gaiden on xbox 540p @ 30 fps.

    ninja gaiden on Sony PS3 1080p @ 60 fps.

i still like to see a game that can top Uncharted graphics on the xbox 360, i wont even bother with the likes of MGS4 or KZ2 which are just another generation ahead of the xbox 360 power.
