Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed has quickly become one of the hottest intellectual properties of this generation. Leaving aside its obvious credentials as an immersive, explorative, stealth-flavored adventure romp, Assassin’s Creed has also garnered critical acclaim for its jaw-dropping visuals, ranging from sprawling cityscapes, evocative sunsets and meticulously rendered character models.
Given this immense visual showcase, and with a sequel on the horizon, we’ve cobbled together a selection of high quality comparison shots of both the original Assassin’s Creed and its eagerly awaited follow-up to illustrate the visual leap between both games. We’ve done our best to find shots of similar origin in both titles in order to give you an idea of how Ubisoft’s stealthy series is progressing since its inception in 2007. Check them out below.

It's a tough call to describe the protaganist in-game and the protaganist render as an evolution since they are different characters entirely but other than that I agree. AC2 is looking to be much better than the first in ALL aspects.

Altair was easily one of the most bad-ass protagonists of all time, and almost two years after he's settled in my mind in his righful position, Ubisoft simply introduce Ezio, who easily tops him. This is my most anticipated game of the year, partly because the original was my most anticipated of all time, and due to not living up to expectations, I'm hyping this partly on the fact that I have expectations for it that will exceed the original in all possible aspects.
The original will always be one of my favourite games of all time, as even though I was partially disappointed, I was still amazed by the fact that such an idea was even conceived. This was the last game I got 100% on before the introduction of Trophies, and I'm still lying in hope that there'll be a patch, but with the introduction of Trophies in the second, it'll easily be one my personal greatest games. I'm even hyping the third installment already, my only disappointment is the fact that that'll be the end of the series. Here's greatly hoping that they'll extend it past the concept of merely just a trilogy, as this has the potential to become the greatest franchise of all time - and there are some pretty damn good competition out there!
I'm completely backing Ubisoft, sincerely hoping that this'll live up to the expectations of the first. And if not? I'll buy the third anyway! Why? Because I was captivated since the very first screenshot for Assassin's Creed, and the trailrer simply took me away. I'm with this IP from beginning to end, and will happily throw money at Ubisoft for every game they create in such a spectacular series. I really hope they bring out more spin-offs on the PSP, just to exrend this series to it's full potential.
Ubisoft Montreal own my soul.

Looks more colorful, thank God. The first game might as well have been black and white.

if they put in onimusha style sword play, the demo of this one shows how you can still do critical counters without being attacked, you could take on endless crowds of people in the first with very basic tiiming skills, thats why i won't get this (hopefully they will make a new onimusha, its better than god of war and went fairly unrecognized on ps2, but it was a master piece )

why compare the renders? that's stupid. If we based a game on renders then any game could be perceived as great. I'm hesitant on buying this just because I was disappointed so much by the first game. We'll see; prolly a rent.
