SNK Playmore Japan has announced that it will be displaying the upcoming The King of the Fighters XII in video form at the All Nippon Amusement Machine Operator’s Union (AOU) 2008 event this weekend.
Running off of Taito’s Type X2 system, the title is currently scheduled to appear in Japanese arcades in June/July 2008, with a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 port due out some time in 2009.
According to SNK, The King of the Fighter XII has experienced the longest development cycle of any title in the series to date, having been built from the ground up to accommodate an all-new game engine and improved character sprites.
AOU 2008 will take place on February 16.
