Three million and counting for MGS4

Konami said prior to release that they wouldn't be able to recoup development costs unless they sold 1 million units on day one. That goal was reached very easily as they sold roughly 1.5 million copies on June 12.

It has been confirmed that Japan has sold roughly 500,000 units, with Europe coming in with a modest 1 million. While these figures are prominent, the exact number of units sold is still up in the air. However, what is known, is that Metal Gear Solid 4 has shipped roughly three million copies worldwide as of June 26.

On top of these impressive shipping numbers Kaz Hirai has claimed that the title has also helped increase hardware sales for the PlayStation 3 as well.

    If japan sold 500,000 and europe came in second with 1 million. Who came in first? I assume it is the united states, but what are the numbers?

    Thanks Dave, the sold numbers for Mgs4 are great and I want them to keep selling until every PS3 owner has a copy. And then people who think there xbox 360 is the best can upgrade to a PS3 and also buy a copy of MGS4. Ninja Gaiden 2 will be the only game I have used on my 360 for a year.

    HHmmm despite europe quite often leading in terms of sales figures it seems a bit rough that we are often the last to recieve goodies on PSN etc. Good news though, especially as it has helped shift some hardware

    I'm glad MGS is finally gettin the love it deserves from all players not jus silly fanboys.

    If any game deserves to do well, its MGS, as the team always push hardware limits.

    I think MGS4 is possibly the best game ever made, I know it's the best game I've ever played and glad that it's selling so well because they deserve it and every PS3 owner deserves to play it.

    Wow good thing i canceled my pre order or it would have been 3 million and 1. But you people are taking shipped as sold and it is 2 different thing's. Gamestop buy me has 125 in stock and said they have only sold 3 in the last week.

    im pretty sure that mgs4 will ship at least 5 million copies. this game is the best video game i've ever played, im actually playin through my 3rd time and tryin to unlock the stealth camo

    @ Jk-sin. That is awesome that you are on your third playthrough and you are going to unlock the steath camo. It is a lot harder to do than previous games so I am debating wether or not to use a save file downloaded from gamefaqs. I would prefer to unlock on my own but it may get frustrating. I'm playing my own save file first but it is nice to have another file with extras camo and bandanna.     they are paying there advertising crew millions for nothing.

    psn id: gingo... th game certainly deserves the sales it has been getting, it is an amazing game and anyone that says otherwise has no taste in games or likes all out action and even then they havew no excuse as they can play MGS4 as all out action if they want

    this is one of the best if not the best games i have ever played .if MGS4 doesn't get GAME OF THE YEAR, their is something seriously wrong.

    If japan sold 500,000 and europe sold 1 million wouldnt tell you that america sold 1,500,000 because im pretty sure that equals 3 million
