Free Radical Design has been busy over the past few days, knocking together a trailer and concept art images for upcoming shooter sequel TimeSplitters 4.

Dating from the PlayStation 2's launch in 2000, the TimeSplitters series is as known for cartoon parody as it is lightning-fast, devilishly varied first person combat. The new trailer, which riffs on a certain well-known George Lucas franchise, is evidence that the fourth game will follow in its predecessors' footsteps.

If you remember, Halo protagonist Master Chief got the monkey treatment last time round.

TimeSplitters 4 has yet to attract a publisher, and is tentatively slated to appear on "next gen platforms" in 2009.
