Top eight titles to envy - games we want on PS3

Two years after its inception, Sony’s PlayStation 3 has accumulated a stellar line-up of games under its belt, with big hitters including Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, and SOCOM: Confrontation available this holiday season, and the likes of God of War III, Killzone 2 and Heavy Rain bringing up the rear in 2009.
Despite the abundance of quality software available, it doesn't mean we can't envy other platforms for their own exclusives. With this in mind, we've compiled a list of the top eight titles we'd most like to see put in an appearance on Sony's black box.
8. Left 4 Dead
Developed by Valve Corporation (Turtle Rock Studios), Left 4 Dead is a first person shooter that utilizes an advanced version of the Source Engine, combined with v.2 of Turtle Rock's AI technology to put players in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Aside from the flesh-eating zombies, what has us yearning for this game is it's additive cooperative play. Gamers can either team up 2-4 players in co-op taking on AI controlled zombies, or go 4 vs 4, Infected vs Survivors.
Over the last few months, rumors have sprung up stating that Left 4 Dead is being ported to the PS3, albeit not by Valve. However, these claims were ultimately shot down or remain unconfirmed. According to Valve Software’s Doug Lombardi, the chances of Left 4 Dead coming to the PS3 are "50-50", however, knowing Valve's history with PS3 support, we're not holding our breath.
7. Crysis
For what has got to be one of the most visually stunning titles released to date, Crysis would make a great addition to the PS3 library. Featuring exotic lush landscapes, spectacular explosion effects, and a unique sci-fi storyline, Crysis has everything a FPS fan needs.
According to our sources, Crytek is planning to release Crysis bundled with the new expansion Warhead on the PlayStation 3 in Q1-Q2 of 2009. In addition, the developer plans to utilize the Cell processor as effectively as possible in order to push higher quality textures, improved A.I., and more.
6. Mass Effect
From the developers that brought us Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire comes a new 3rd person action RPG franchise, Mass Effect. Originally released on the Xbox 360 and subsequently ported to PC soon after, Mass Effect features top notch graphics, real-time combat, and a Grade A voice acting cast including Lance Henriksen (The Terminator and Aliens) and Seth Green (Family Guy and Robot Chicken). The game allows players to create characters, choosing from six different classes, evolving and improving technology, weapons, and equipment to help defeat foes across many different galaxies.
According to BioWare, the Mass Effect sequel will appear as an "Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time." It has yet to be decided if the series will ever see light of day on PlayStation 3. However, given that EA now owns BioWare, it would be contradictory of the publishers track record to not have PS3 versions of Mass Effect's sequels.
5. Diablo III
Revealed in June at the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational, Diablo III marks the return of one of the greatest dungeon RPG series ever conceived.
From what we know, Diablo III will feature five character classes including Witch Doctors, Wizards, and Barbarians. Also, utilizing a new Blizzard engine (including the use of Havok physics), the game will showcase destructible environments and a revamped 3D isometric camera.
The actual chances of the game making an appearance on the PlayStation 3 are somewhat slim; however, we live in hope, given that the original title eventually made the transition to PSone back ... (continued on next page)

Splinter cell got delayed BECAUSE OF MGS4. It is really obvious, because the news came a a week or two after the release of MGS4. The developers played MGS4, and instantly knew it would beat the crap out of SC. lol

I would like to verify that I'm not envious of any of these titles on this list. SCC particularly looks like hot garbage and has been m.i.a. for quite some time now.

I know it's not on the list and I know it will never happen, but I want to play Fabel II. It's the only game on 360 that really looks like it would be fun to play. Besides that, Crysis and Starcraft II for sure.

Splinter Cell got scrapped and back ot the drawing board. I dont recall a re-reveal, unless i missed the press release.
I do agree with most of the list but i cant bring myself to agree. I generally disagree with mass assortments of Multiplatform, while nice to those with only one console, something always ends up being compomised in the process, check out Fallout 3 for a perfect example, it got shafted on the PS3 in every conceivable fashion.
Exclusives are where its at, i say if its exclusive to PC, keep it there. If its exclusive to Wii (for the love of god, KEEP IT THERE), if its exclusive to PS3 keep it there, if its exclusive to 360, keep it there.
When dealing with a title for a specific platform, it allows the developers to utilize every morsal of the playform possible, always resulting in great presentation or well thought out unique additions.Gears of War jsut wouldn't really 'fit' into the PS3 library if you ask me, and following the tradition of all UT3 powered games on the paltform, would end up sucking.
on the flipside, Metal Gear Solid 4 probably wouldn't work out too well on the Xbox360, and neither would Ratchet and Clank or Uncharted for instance.when it comes to exclisves, ill come out and say it, PS3 has the best looking and msot interesting. Its jsut a shame the 360 has a few more is all.
high hopes on the Project offset and Crysis thing though :) CryTek are very much PC exclusive developers, making their games run on superficial systems of the future in hopes to catch the next wave of developers looking for the best engine in the biz

wow... im sure this wasnt written out of bias. So i guess you REALLY dont want Gears of War series on the PS3? REALLY? thats like the 360 forum doing same thing and only including uncharted and not including LBP or MGS. Do a new one and make it real. Another thing, i have yet to read anything intelligent from this Pinter guy. He looks like a flammer, reviews like a tard, and all his general writting are pathetic.

Terrible list, Diablo III, Star Ocean 4 and Project offset only 3 titles worth it. Crysis wasn't that great and keep in mind I ran all settings at High with solid fps between 53- 67 fps. Mass Effect wasn't that fun. Starcraft is over rated. I'm glad you didn't put Gears of War or Halo though, because those games just suck.

the wierd thing about this list is that some of those games have a high posibilty of coming over to the PS3. i kinda thought this list would be filled with games that we know would never come to the PS3. but still out all the games on that list i really want Crysis, Project Offset and Diablo 3. the rest i could care less about on the ps3 because i already have an Xbox 360.

Listen to all you flamers, "GOW2 sucks". The reality is, many people on this site said the same about bioshock, then got excited when it was announced for PS3. I have both consoles and really enjoy the exclusives of both, but I know alot of 360 owners would willingly admit they would be excited if LBP or God of war 3 came to 360. Even though it might not be as great as MS fanboys make it out to be, the first one was alot of fun, as I'm sure the second one will be. It would be great if most of these titles made it to PS3. Regardless, it doesn't mean any of the games suck or are over-rated. Exept for Halo 3, because that game actually did suck. And people can't compare Gears to Resistence because they are 2 different games.

Diablo 3 looks awesome! splinter cell conviction i know will end up on the ps3, but, i won't get it. ( why not halo 4 on the ps3??) lol they keep wanting MGS4 on xbox360 why not want halo?

i dont need these games i have LBP, R2, Motorstorm (which is awesome), K2 coming early next year. the only game that might be good is starcraft 2 but that is about it

i can live without pretty much every title on that list, not to say they aren't good games, but i'll take the ps3's lineup anyday a couple of those are IMO overhyped somewhat i mean l4d has gotten some average reviews and previews, good game but not a system seller, and i've played crysis already (i actually like R2 better, and kz2 looks amazing) i i had to choose one i'd have to say that diablo 3 is basically the best choice
