Touch My Katamari is a launch title for Sony’s upcoming handheld, the PlayStation Vita. Published and developed by Namco Bandai, this new addition to the franchise will use motion controls to add in all-new functionality to Katamari, but it wasn’t always planned for the Vita.
In a recent interview, producer Toshiyuki Nakanishi revealed that the game was original planned out for the PlayStation 3. After having decided to make the switch to Vita, front and back touch controls were added to the game along with dual-analog control in order to make it fit on the Vita.
Nakanishi also stated that the only control option to not make it into Touch My Katamari was motion controls, via the gyroscope and accelerometer, due to time limitations.
Touch My Katamari will be available day one with the Vita launch.
