Trophies still a possibility for MGS4

How fares our 2008 Game of the Year? Very well, it seems. Metal Gear Solid 4 has sold over four million copies worldwide, and is currently the sixth highest rated game on the PlayStation 3, based on figures from review aggregate site Metacritic. So why has Konami failed to patch in PlayStation Trophy support for its 2008 gem? We have no idea, but according to Brandon Laurino of Konami Online, Konami is still considering the option.
"On the subject of MGS4/MGO trophies... we hear you," wrote Laurino on the PlayStation Blog. "We have been circulating these issues internally, and we will report back as soon as we are able."
Hopefully Konami does indeed report back. Props to PS3Center for catching the comment.

I might be able to go through this game again but I have done it 4 times already and will have to buy it again. I still might do it though. It was a great game.

Why even bother at this point? Trophies are pointless only because It didn't launch with the console, and so many games don't even support the feature. If you want to do something, you should commit to it and get it done, not just tack things on and make them half a**.

if this was to happen i would be the worlds happyest PS3 user on this green earth ! i would stop at nothin to get that platinum trophy, im not a huge fan of the online but id still stuck it out and i think thats wat alot of people would do, 11 years ago i feel in love with a game(u figure it out) and this would make it a complete game ! plz plz konami, make it happen !!

6th rated? wtf? some ppl are just mad or plain stupid. ive not yet played a game on the ps3 thats more compelling, detailed and action packed as mgs4. a true classic.

It's not as easy as it may seem. Maybe they didn't leave room in the game for triggered system events. I know it's pretty hard to patch a feature in that the game wasn't tailored for in the first place. For multiplatform games, it's a little easier because Achievements may have left room.

This would be awesome to patch trophies into MGS4, but I am just wondering how hard is it for them to patch trophies in. I am guessing they had to spend a ton of money making the game and with 4 million copies sold how much have they made in profit if any profit at all. This could be a money issue. You never know.

What happened to in-game music? Did everyone forget about that? Yeah, the trophies are fun and all but wtf! I wanted music more than trophies. None of the games I have support in-game music. None! I heard something about PixelJunk Monsters but it doesn't work for me.
I know trophies will be mandatory for games certified in 2009, but is that true for in-game music as well? I hope so, but I doubt it. I envy the 360 gamers in that area. :(

@5 what are you talking about? Trophies were always talked about. If you followed the early stages of the PS3 you would know all the hurdles Sony ran into. At least they got the feature out.
@12 I agree as well. I'm assuming some of the top 5 are probably games like FIFA and GTA. It's too bad, because GTAIV was a huge let down IMO. MGS4 is probably my favorite game on the PS3 so far. I've beaten the game 7 times already and I'd go back to get trophies if Konami does this. I'd play it more, but there are so many more games out right now :)

@ everyone who has said why is it taking so long. There are a few reasons for that. One person has a strong point about there being enough space and memory, but from what I have noticed is that Konami just isn't moderating the game on MGO. With just this recent maintanence they finnaly are doing something about all the glitches that have found their way in. It has taken way to long to even make an effort on debuggin the game. So u see they just like to take their sweet time.

wow trophies to a game i bet a year ago, now i gots to go out and beat the dayum thing again. i dont understand why if i already beat it i cant just put the game in and it put the trophies i already got in it. instead of goin thru it again and playing it. that wasnt a short game ya know. idk its too late for me. see wat there trin to do is make ppl go out and buy it again just cuz it has trophies. now i love getin trophies and ill play a game to get them but sry not mgs4. yea it was a great game but im not goin to do it.

Man u ppl aren't real MGS fans. I also have only payed thru once, but can't wait to have a reason to play again. Kojima spent all that time making it you can at least play it over and over again. Why would u not want to get ur moneys worth?

I hope they put them, since this will be an added-value to this already fantastic masterpiece. And please, I'm talking about MGS4 not the MGO added with it... so lets see if they listen our desires and put the majority of them for the offline game and not for MGO.

trophies and achievement's are dumb... imo there a waist of time' id rather play a game then stress over one lousy trophy, i also hate how they can be gliched on the 360. u know somewere someone with no life would find a way to cheat them. then everyone else would do the same.

Yeah but Metacritic put GTA as number 1... don't get me wrong, GTA is an excellent game but I've played the last 2 and there really is nothing they can do to improve on GTA now, it's the same game in a different flavoured wrapper. MGS4 is about the story and the experience and everyone who has played the game will agree with me when I say that's better than Bioshock!!!

Why has Konami failed to patch trophies? because no one needs them Trophies make s%@# games better & Longer its unacceptable. Metal Gear Solid 4 & Devil May Cry 4 are tooo Awesome to have trophies

To be honest, I still haven't played this. It was a day 1 purchase for me & it's still sealed and waiting on my shelf, just haven't gotten around to it. I don't seem to have as much time as before. Hopefully they patch in trophies to give it that extra oomph for me to sit down and make time for it. I am a shamed gamer.
