The Electronic Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) has issued Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet its prestigious gold status award, following UK sales of the game topping the 200,000 mark.

According to Edge, the impressive milestone can be attributed to a stellar marketing campaign for the social platformer, which saw numerous advertisements hogging our TV screens throughout the holiday season.

Furthermore, Edge notes that that game is soon to surpass the 300,000 milestone, at which point the game will bag itself a Platinum award.

All in all, a solid performance and proof that even the most acclaimed titles can sometimes take a while to gather steam. No more sleepless nights for SackBoy, then.

1.81mil if vgchartz are to believed. It may not have sold 1mil the first week, but it's definitely showing signs of cracking 4mil life time sales.

Yeah its not bad all.  I know that Xbox has a bigger installed base but Xbox games sales figures are always so much better than PS3. Not good.

Well, the games that tend to sell really well are the shooters and that's relative to install bases. Otherwise, it's best to keep games on both systems. Fallout 3, for example only sold 1.8mil on the 360 and 1.05mil on the PS3. Not bad.

this game should have sold millions in th uk alone.  The ad  campaign was rubbish.  They shuld have used Stephen Fry for the voiceover for the ads and they should have used the catchy theme from the game as we saw in the original E3 address that  first brought it to the world.  Even more importantly they should have shown some of the creation footage that was bandied around the web.

Sony really don't have a clue how to market their console.  They seem to be makinng a real mess of this whole gen.  Fortunately word of mouth and a loyal fanbase seemm to be keeping them going. but if they keep going on like this they'll lose out.

Just as long as LBP gets the recognition it deserves, i don't care how long it will take for it to go Plat.  I just wish Sony would up the ads in the States

What? almost 300k? Even if this equates to 1 mill or even near 2 mill WW, those numbers are alot more pitiful than they should be. Granted it is easily to coin the game a success in comparison to other titles but it just really sucks when a title that is out of the box such as this one recieves little sales. It happens far to often to some great games.

Yeah 300,000 sales in UK, and what is the PS3 userbase in  the UK? Yeah pretty bad sales. And whoever got the 1.8 mill number lost there mind. It has been stated that is is just over 1.2 mill.
