Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has confirmed that it will be releasing a 160GB PlayStation 3 bundle featuring Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune in November 2008.

Set to retail for USD 500, the bundle contains a copy of the action-adventure title from Naughty Dog, along with a single DualShock 3 pad.

SCEA boss Jack Tretton commented: “As Playstation Network continues to evolve with our recently launched video delivery service and more exclusive games, PS3 owners are demanding more storage capacity.”

“Consumers also are utilizing PS3 as an entertainment hub for their digital media, placing content such as their entire music collection on the hard drive. The 160GB PS3 system addresses this growing consumer demand in a compelling bundle that delivers significant value.”

Sony needs to start getting smarter. $500 is a pretty good deal but they need to do a little more. How about throwing in the new bluetooth headset? How about offering Resistance 2 or LBP....why Uncharted? Sure its a great game and a good show piece to show off the graphics of the PS3, but its a little old. At least this holiday season they are pushing the PS3 as a game machine instead of last year when it was all about movies.

    • 2:58pm BST - October 4th, 2008

yay i agree wit most ppl here, why not a resistance 2 bundle? Makes sense since that its one of Sony's most signature titles, not trying to disrespect uncharted though. If Sony wants to sell newer bundles, it should be newer titles that should come with it, not past titles IMO.

160gb hard drive, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, a Dual-Shock 3... Dang, thats one heck of deal! Man, this is like a Wii having Mario: Galaxy or LoZ: Twilight Princess or a 360 with a copy of Gears 1 or Halo 3 though those 2 would still be lacking with a new thing like the 160 gb of a PS3...

Sony you cheap ****s, guess they're dropping bc completely. Thank god I bought the 60gb. I don't understand how this will improve their market share that much. They already fully support people upgrading the hd, so why not just include the game, keep bc, and keep it at a lower price point? I think bc is important because their are still great ps2 games coming, and a full library of classics, why not support it. Although I will admit, the bc doesn't work that well, and the quality is horrible compared to playing natively on ps2, but instead of dropping it, they should fix it.

@29 What are you talking about?!  Just upgrade your HDD with something bigger.  You don't have to get another PS3 for more space.  What are you, new?

On one hand it's a good deal.  Good game, too.  On the other hand, they need to be done with $500 consoles.

The real question is DOES THIS BUNDLE COME WITH ANY BACKWARDS COMPATABILITY FOR PS2 GAMES?  If not, sony you have really lost it.

    • 8:56pm BST - October 4th, 2008

everybody shut up about BC the reason they dont have it coz it would cost money to updated and fix bugs in the emulator since its not prefect. and i want them investing in the future not the past.

off the BC topic, i also place my entire music collection on my hard drive (40GB) but im only updated my hard drive (40GB) when i need 2 :)

  33. Bigdoggy | Gypscrew

    • 10:36pm BST - October 4th, 2008

it shouldn't be $500.00.  Even more so if it's an older game like uncharted.  The game is good I give it that but it's late to do a bundle with that game at a price of $500.00.

For $500.00, they should put in Resistance 2 plus a blutooth headset.  Things tend to sell more if they get what they need in one package.  Whoever is putting in these packages and calling them a deal needs to leave Sony.  I know you get a 160GB, but come on now, if they want to sell, throw the people a bone or 2 and in turn that will sell your system.

    @32

Regardless of whether you think bc is "staying in the past" It's a feature many gamers want. I don't care if it costs them money, if they can't stick with something that launched with the console, it shows their lack of commitment. Microsoft has done it, and even the $199 xbox supports it. Come on man, this is "the most powerfull console" yet sony cheaps out on this part? Let consumers install larger HD's if they choose, don't pre install a cheap part and rake the price up again. You can buy a 320g hd for $89 on newegg right now! Keep the good game and BC and lose the larger HD, or just buckle down and take a loss and sell this at $399 so you can continue being competitive.

    • 8:36am BST - October 5th, 2008

i can appreciate such a bundle but they really need to get a bundle pulled together that has a lower price point.  right now people can buy both a 360 adn wii together for about the same price.  you and i both know the ps3 is still the better value when you stack it up against the other consoles, but unless more systems start getting sold, sony isn't reaching it's 10 year life cycle on the ps3

    $ONY your clueless !

Sell the damn console without the HD, let us buy our own !

As for the game(s) if we want it, we'll buy it, and lower the prices and we might buy more !

what a load of tight penny pinching moaners you lot are . if you wanted BC you should have stumped up the cash on release day like i did £425 or $745 and all you got was one sixaxis controler..........no games no perks nowt! All you can do is moan that £299 or $500 is too much..............beleive me its cheap. Im pleased SOny removed BC, media reader and extra USB as it makes my 60gb console fairly unique. You get what you pay for so if you want a cheap console that breaks down get a 360

    • 1:13pm BST - October 6th, 2008

I dont agree with this price point even if it has a verry good game and rumble controller. This bundle should be 399 at most. No BC which a lot of games are looking for. Sony is out of it right now they  have to get on the ball and see that BC is verry important look at M$ and Nintendo. What they should do is stop ugrading hd and add bc to the ps3. Let us the consumer upgrade the hd ourselves.

I actually do love BC because ... I HAVE ALOT OF PS2 GAMES and I firmly believe that new consoles should replace old ones so I'm very glad I got a 80gig with BC...  but I do wanna talk sh i t to all you complaining about price and HD. I dont want to buy some saga saturn esc add on... I dont wanna buy any addon.. I do like the ungradable Hard drive though thats cool. I love my PS3.... but I do think that BC should be taken seriously, if only for the fans.... its so cool making virtual mem cards for my ps1 and ps2 games... I totally nerd out on that sh it! and about the price. Save money and get the good stuff people...... if of course thats what you want. if not get a wii or a simple simple "arcade" xbox. and if your hard up I feel sorry for you son I got 99 problems but funds aint one.   hahaha

Not a bad idea. A much better one would be a Little Big Planet SCU and set up demos of LBP in all the stores. Judging by the beta it looks like that's going to be Sony's ace in the hole for this year.
