Uncharted 2 release date to be announced 'very soon'

Naughty Dog has let slip that the developer will be making an announcement on a firm release date for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves ‘very soon.’

Speaking during a chat with fans on the North American PlayStation Blog yesterday, co-president Evan Wells commented: “We still haven’t announced our release date. So for now it’s still “Fall”, but I assure you that an official date will be announced very soon.”

Elsewhere, Wells confirmed that the sequel’s main campaign will eclipse its predecessor in terms of length, with over 90 minutes dedicated to cinematics alone.

“The single player campaign is definitely going to be longer than Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.   We have over 90 minutes of cinematics alone!   And of course we have the competitve and co-op multiplayer modes too!”

Furthermore, Naughty Dog’s Amy Hening revealed that protagonist Nathan Drake will be visiting an extensive range of locales throughout the game, including but not limited to war-torn cities, temples and swamps.

“Nate does a little more globe-trotting in this game than in Uncharted 1, so there's a wider variety of environments.   Everything from urban areas, ancient temples, jungle swamps to snowy and icy locales.   Nate's journey takes him from Turkey to Borneo, up to Nepal and into Tibet and the Himalayas,” said Hening.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is currently pencilled in for a fall release exclusively on PlayStation 3.

    I'm really hoping it has an September/October release so I can have time to play it a good amount before I get addicted to MW2.

    It shouldn't release in November (Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2).

    I don't know any PS3 user that isn't excited for this game. I will definitely get this day one if finances permit.

    mgs4 had like 15 hours of cinematic lol but this story should be really good

    I have Uncharted 2 beta withdrawals something bad. Might get really smashed, pass out and wake up in a few months, can't wait for this game.

     90 mins total. MGS4 had a single Cutscene come close to that...LMAO. my bad, it was just asking for it :) but in all seriousness this game is gunna be awsome. but this gloge trotting......most adventure sequals do this and it sucks. but if anyone can prove me wrong ND can. as long as it gets relesed this year im a happy camper :p

    A couple years ago after I saw a trailer for the first game, I thought it looked like just another Tomb Raider knock off. A little while after Drake's Fortune released, I downloaded a demo, and it was pretty good. Not too long after that, I got the game for a birthday. It was phenomenal!

    Now, I just can't wait for the sequel. Every video and article gets me more psyched up. Need to see that release date before my head explodes. heheh.

    at this point in time, im not sure if tomb raider can even hold a candle to uncharted now

     

    also is it just me or does nathan drake now look more like gerard butler with a cowlick

    Lol, atleast put pretty trailer up.  I agree this isn't really worthy of news, but anything about UNCHARTED 2 and release date sounds good to me... Unless it has delayed in it as well.

    EB games in australia have just set a date for it. 24/09/09, they are usually pretty accurate from history, so i sense this is the official date.
