Valve: No Left 4 Dead planned for PS3

Valve Spokesperson Doug Lombardi has confirmed that the company has no plans to develop a PlayStation 3 iteration of the upcoming shooter, Left 4 Dead.
Lombardi said that the company had "limited interest" in working on Sony’s next-generation console, revealing that it had only released The Orange Box on the system because Electronic Arts had requested to handle the port itself.
Speaking to Videogaming247.com, Lombardi stated, "EA wanted to do Orange Box on PS3 and they handled it.”
"Left 4 Dead isn't coming out on PS3 because we've not had that call. If the phone rang we would have the conversation, certainly, but it hasn't happened,” he said.
Lombardi added that Vale has traditionally struggled when working on home consoles in the past, particular when it was porting the original Half Life to Microsoft’s Xbox some years ago.

No one saying anything about insomiac not working on the 360. Come on guys thats there preference let it go. Btw every developer that does not choose to work on the PS3 or if the PS3 version of the game is not the best. Does not make them lazy or garbage. How can they be money hungry when there not putting it out on every console. I mean why put it out on the PS3 anyway so you guys can complain about lazy developers if the PS3 version is not the best please.

as for insomniac, they didnt really do any smack talk about other consoles, iv read articles about Valve in magazines with developers just talking crap about PS3

VALVe is an awful company anyways, I had nothing but problems with all their games. I had a four digit steam account and almost everygame and VALVe has gone down the pipe source is rubbish and so has the half-life franchise.
@ Deldwen it is on Steam on PC and on X360.
BTW Gabe Newell is a fat piece of crap. And its no surprise he supporrts Microsoft he worked for the original Windows Dev team =

I hate Valve so much, they are so fu(king lazy. Stop whining about thats its hard to develop for the PS3, you have to give something a chance before you can get used to it, they are just lazy and all they do is sit around, watch Dr. Phil and eat Triple Fudge Ice Cream. I really do hate valve, get off your lazy asses and start working.

Valve said it there self that there lazy, PS3 is to hard to work on(this is where the babies cry)because its actually got a nextgen architecture. Ubisoft said for far cry 2 that there suprised with the PS3 raw power, Peter Moloneux said for fable 2 he likes to have a hard drive but rather help out the cheap console. With the word cheap I think he is saying cheap made 360 which is loud as a airplane taking off and gets hot as my oven, I have a 360 so I know how bad it was planned it would of been a better console but came out a year early. My PS3 on the other hand is well built QUIET and doesn't get hot because they waited that extra year.

Bunch o f'n tools. Wonder what they'll have to say when the day comes that the PS3 has a larger install base than the 360.
Talentless hacks is all they are, they can't expand beyond the PC archetecture (of which the 360 resembles almost exactly) cuz they're inferrior.
Lets leave the deving up to real men, ala Insomniac and such.

I saw a vid of this game. IT SUCKS. No wonder they don't want to release it on ps3, it could never compare to Resistance 2, Killzone 2, or any of the other games.

that's it! just the news i didn't wanna hear. now there's no company in the world that i hate more then valve. i wanna see a ps3 exclusive zombie game now. i what sony's Forbidden Siren 3 (Siren 3) to come, like now! oh yeah, and that dead rising port too. can't valve see that the ps3 will (if they don't already) outsell the 360 world-wide. they'll lose so much money on this! hope this game won't sell, hope valve dies. ps3 gamers, don't hate EA for making some lousy ports. this is our true enemy. death to valve!

I agree with PSU user: Righteous on this one. Valve knows that they slap together a game on the 360 and have it ready quickly. Also, those developers at Valve probably couldn't develop for the PS3 even if they wanted to. It takes developers with real talent to bring out the best in the PS3 and to develop for the PS3.
Left 4 Dead isn't nothing but another shooter to me.... that's the only thing the 360 has is shooters, when will developers for the 360 bring some innovation to the table and something different? That's why I like the PS3 and Sony better because they make more diverse games for everybody and caters to hardcore gamers and casual gamers alike.
I'd rather play Resistance 2, Killzone 2, and Haze than some cheap PC shooter Left 4 Dead. Just 6 levels in Killzone 2 will be larger than the whole game Left 4 Dead, Hahaha ha!!!! Sony rules!!!

Let Valve stay in then Spider Webs forever and make games for the PCs and the old architectured Xbox 360s. We know they dont have talent to make games for the PS3 and they are putting the blame on EA saying they are not making the call. Come out and agree Valve that u dont have the talent to make games for the advanced PS3.

Valve is a small time garbage game developing company that just got lucky with their stupid simple games and I don't think anyone should just pay any attention to them. Forget them, once they finally realize that the PS3 is now finally getting the stand-alone attention then they're going to start switching their words and trying to develop games for PS3 and pay less attention to the 360. Within time the 360 will die off anyway. Just wait.

@ Everyone, seriously VALVe are some of the best developers so I would definately not diss Half-Life2 or Counter-Strike: Source (Which remains the most played online game) I'm just amazed at how VALVe really doesn't want to jump into a really well potential market. Their games however are amazing. No one can challenge HL2 not even Halo.

Struggling developement on consoles? Learn the freak-n hardware then. Porting Orange Box to consoles shows that they are interested in the cash possibilities. They just don't want to invest the time to learn a proper way to program for consoles. It doesn't work that way Valve.

Whatever, it's there opinion.
Not to disrespect ps3 or anything but if you were a developer what company would you make your game for. A easy developing system that can bring u the bucks (because almost everybody has a 360) or a system that takes a long time developing and as well as high fees with few gamers that is not likely to bring u million copies the first day on the market (ps3). Not yet thoug maybe it will change by the end of the year when all the crazy titles come out.

This sucks because i really like Half Life. I played it on my PC but i enjoy my PS3 much more, mainly because i dont have to keep upgrading the hardware. Its just too expensive. Valve should really just shut up and learn how to develop for the PS3, many others are doing it just fine

I agree with whoever said it first: Shame on you people for buying the orange box for PS3 in the first place. You knew what was said prior to release, yet you still went ahead and supported ea/valves healf-hearted effort. Have a little dignity and stop buying into lousy ports.....and pay attention next time.
