Valve says EA is "interested" in PS3 Left 4 Dead

Valve co-founder Gabe Newell has addressed the possibility of a PlayStation 3 version of zombie romp Left 4 Dead, stating that Electronic Arts is “interested” in handling a port of the game.
“For The Orange Box, EA did the PS3 version,” Newell told 1up.com. “They’re interested in getting a PS3 version done. We just have to figure out where the resources can come from. We don’t have the bandwidth. We’re doing the 360 and PC version ourselves.”
For those unaware, Left 4 Dead is an upcoming First Person Survival Horror outing for PC and Xbox 360, where players must team up together in order to survive an on-going zombie pandemic.
The game utilizes the latest version of Valve’s source engine, and employs a dynamic AI system known as ‘The Director’, allowing enemies to spawn in a variety of different numbers and positions based on the player’s current status. It’s all looking rather snazzy, truth be told.

Its going to happen, theres no if about it. However I just hope its a quality port instead of a horrible one.

so is it really a resident evil surviver type with ai ??? either way i love them sort of games so will watch out for this as time goes on

NO NO NO NO! EA has some good studios (like redwood shores). But the guys that did The Orange Box, DO NOT LET THEM TAKE THIS ONE!
Either farm it off to another developer who have good PS3 skills or don't bother. Not that i'd be buying Valve's bull games anymore..

Hm. I'll wait, I definetely aint buyin' this game without seeing some reviews / previews, etc. After the Orange Box, EA has been on my super-avoid list of videogames...

Hmm, thats atleast kewl on EA's part. Im 1/2 interested in the idea and being able to get it for my PS3 will rawk.
I honestly don't know why everyone harps on EA though. First off, i didn't find the Orange box to be that bad of a port. It could of used work, sure, but it was completely playable. Also, if not for EA you wouldn't see any of valve's games on the PS3 - cuz they (valve) are d!cks like that. I for one, praise EA for taking action and allowing all gamers to enjoy the games.

EA Montreal that did the Orange Box port, that was their first PS3 game and their second game in the history of the studio. I think they did a very good job on it, in comparision to ports or equally released games by other developers.
EA will pick up the rights to port this game but it wont come out until 2009 cuz they have Dead Space this year, and why put in more competition from themselves.

they must be hoping that nobody remembers nfs hot pursuit. after EA/BLACKBOX made it for the ps2 they then ported it over to xbox and gamecube but after they handed it off to a different studio who did either have the buget, the manpower, the know how or all of the above and put out horrible port. i for will wait and see what they do. EA has burned me one time too many.

theres a reason im typing this on a PC, i wont be buying Left 4 Dead on PS3, nor 360, PC is the only home for a FPS from companie sliek Valve and Id. For, well, more than obvious reasons.

yeh and where`s all the losers who saying multi plat is a good thing,funny when the ps3 lose a exclusive game (ff13-la noire) they all come out saying yeh its great its going to the 360and stop whinning.dont say nothing now there`s chance of a 360 game coming to ps3...just 360 fan boys in disguise

Who the F cares. i saw previews for this and it looks dumb i dont know if people realize this we already have like a million zombie games. and besides it is essentially by valve and i refuse to buy their crap. i liked portal on the orange box but holy crap team fortress really blows. and that was the main game i bought the orange box for. it wont matter even if EA ports it it will be buggy and noone will support it so screw valve and this crappy game you want zombies play resident evil.
