Villains share center stage in LEGO Batman

It's not very often villains have the chance to shine within the video game industry. In a market of games satiated with heroes, it's about time the villains get a little love. Apparently, Traveller's Tales feels the same way. Within the upcoming title LEGO Batman: The Videogame, the bad boys of Gotham take center stage. Not only are gamers privileged with the ability to electrify opponents with the Joker, but they're also capable of performing several signature moves with other denizens of Arkham Asylum.

"Signature moves such as Banes backbreaker are critical to the rivalry between him and Batman! We want players to make statements about the game such as 'oh it would be great if you could do Bane’s backbreaker' and be utterly satisfied when you find that you can," states Loz Doyle, head producer of LEGO Batman. "Some of the team’s favourites include Two Face's stud flipping idle animation, and Harley Quinn's tuned acrobatic back flip. With over 50 characters there’s just so much to see!"

Villain mode, which may be the coolest thing to ever hit the LEGO franchise, is definitely going to appeal to fans of the baddies on every level. The mode gives gamers the ability to play through 15 complete levels that run parallel to Batman's story from a villain's perspective.

"Adding to the LEGO formula is what keeps it alive, and playing as the villains is an utter dream for fans, especially considering the fanboyism goes with each. Villain mode doubles the size of the game too, because we've had to create separate levels for the villains to progress through, darker yuckier ones in which to develop their dastardly plans."

You can expect PlayStation Universe to bring you a full review of the title when LEGO Batman: The Videogame hits retails shelves on September 23.
