Visceral Games boss Glen Schofield has indicated that the firm isn’t quite ready to spill the beans on Dead Space 2 just yet, instead deciding to keep it’s gaze fixed firmly on Dante’s Inferno and Dead Space: Extraction.
The survival horror sequel’s existence was inadvertently confirmed earlier in the year via a developer LinkedIn profile, though the title has since been removed from the CV. Despite this, it doesn’t look like we’ll see a formal announcement anytime soon.
Speaking to the chaps at VG247, Schofield commented, “Our two big games are Extraction and Dante’s Inferno: we’re not ready to announce anything [else] yet, no.”
“These two games are the games we’re really focussing on. One of the reasons we changed the [studio's] name [to Visceral] is to go, ‘We’re focussing on quality.’ So right now the focus is on getting these two games to the highest quality. The studio is really working on that.”
“I think talking about anything other than that just takes the focus away from the games we’re working on.”
When pushed on a Dead Space 2 reveal, an EA PR rep jumped in with a ‘no comment.’ PSU will bring you more info on the sequel as soon as it becomes available to us.

Dead Space was a fantastic new IP, and the Wii spinoff is definitely something I'll be looking forward to. A sequel sounds interesting, and will undoubtedly be good. Is it safe predicting it for next Autumn: Hallowe'en, maybe? I'm hyping this already, and have been since I first considered the fact that Dead Space was intended one-off, but a franchise. I can see Visceral doing some great things in the future, especially if they continue producing new IPs such as Dead Space, and their change of name shows that they're really dedicated to doing so - I'll just have to keep my eye on them...

first games was win, i cant believe it took people so long to put a horror game in space, its now my favorite survival horror game.(also i have a tendency overchek my map in those games due to the tension, and since they had an in game navigation tool, i never really had to keeping me immersed in the game)

As someone who avoids horror games because they usually suck, I was shocked when I fell in love with Dead Space. Someone gave it to me for XMas or I would have skipped it. Brilliant game and I can't wait for the next one.
