The latest issue of Japan’s famitsu magazine has revealed that SEGA’s upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive Yakuza 3 will carry a mandatory install of approximately 5,120MB.
Naturally, until SEGA decide to pull their socks up and announce a western release, this really only applies to Japanese consumers and those of you willing to fork out for an import copy.
Due for release in Japan on February 26, Yakuza 3 takes place in Kamuro-cho, the fictional setting for the original two games, and the real-world southern Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, with players once again assuming control of series protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu.
Hopefully we’ll have confirmation of a western release in the near future. Stay tuned.

Not a prob for me I think I have over 180 gigs free. What I am curious about is if they game will land in HK with english subs. I want to get it without pulling my hair out trying to translate it......... who am I kidding. I am going to import it anyway.
@3 and 4
It has to do with the developers. They are taking advantage of whats available to bring the best experience to the gamer. It may be due to limitations of engine or any other small issue.
Not all titles require installs and some of the best looking games on the PS3 do not need installs.

It all depends on how the game is designed. If it streams off the disk there's no need for an install, but if it's going to have an extended load time then developers will opt for the install. Killzone has no load times so there no need for an install. Yakuza isnt that fancy, it's just straight up action game.

As far as I'm concerned it could have a 20 gb install and it wouldn't bother me, I'm very excited.
