Interactive Data Visualization Inc. has yet another large company using their fantastic SpeedTree middleware. Square Enix has announced that it will be using SpeedTree in the development of their next new IP, The Last Remnant.
"Since it's able to render not only a large number, but a large variety of trees quickly, SpeedTree has really been an important tool for us in developing The Last Remnant," voiced Square Enix Chief Artist Kimihiko Miyamae.
This upcoming RPG will use SpeedTree to deliver incredibly realistic trees and plants (SpeedTree has model library of over 200 core species). For all you physics buffs, the middleware even supports adjustable wind effects in conjunction with the Unreal 3 Engine.
