Sony has announced that it will be distributing a new update for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue on August 1, 2008.
According to reports, the update will include the hotly anticipated Gran Turismo TV feature, allowing gamers to view various automobile shows from around the globe, either by free or pay-per-view.
Initially, all pay-per-view content will cost USD 0.99 for two weeks, before switching to a fixed rate of USD 1.99 thereafter.
In addition to the above, the update will also include various gameplay tweaks to the main game, such as fixes to penalty judgements, as well as more tire choices for Time Trial and improved collision physics during online play.

Listen, I'm a GT fan and have GT5:P (and enjoy it), but remember that horrible idea of years ago where Polyphony Digital (and Sony) wanted to nickel and dime us for every car in an early version of GT5 (I forgot what they called it back then, it wasn't "GT5")? Well, this seems like it's the same concept.

@ hesmanes: Tire is the way Americans spell it and Tyre is British English spelling.

Really? No. The British spell it t-y-r-e? Is that a joke that I fell for or what? Anyway, if it's true, that's cool. I've never seen that.

@ Odium_Generis_Humani: Charging for cars and tracks would have been a bad thing, yes. But I should think it's going to cost them quite a bit to license things like Top Gear from the relative TV companies, so I can't blame them for charging for this stuff. If people want this content, they can pay. If they don't, they don't. We can't expect everything for free. EDIT: And is it just me, or has the message editor gone nuts? -

Ok, I see your point and agree. Now, what is Top Gear? Somebody hip me to that info. Is that like the "ESPN Baseball Tonight" of sweet Auto Racing?

Top Gear is the best car show there is. Period. BBC, it's carrying network, describes it as part celebrity interview, part Jack@$s with cars. They review high end cars, such as the Ariel Atom, and also have fun little mashups with lesser vehicles. And will this include trophies and ingame music, 'cause I loath Thin Lizzy!

I wish they would give full support to the Logitech G25 Steering Wheel!!!!! Damn irritating that it doesn't!
