Online co-op to feature in Resistance 2 public beta

Speaking during an interview with Gamespot, Insomniac Games President Ted Price has let a few new details loose on the upcoming Resistance 2 beta.
The game's supposedly "ground-breaking" co-op mode will get an airing, for starters. "Yes, online co-op will be a big part of the public beta," Price confirmed. "And, we firmly believe we're breaking entirely new ground with Resistance 2's online co-op."
You'll also be able to try out three character classes - Spec Ops, Medic and Soldier - and "level them up to a limited extent - unlocking some of the cool persistent rewards we offer." Swanky.
Asked what he hoped to achieve with the public beta, Price gave four criteria. "Our goals are a) to see how our fans react to the game and to get their final feedback b) to enlist their help in finding the last few bugs and balance issues c) test the servers with much higher player counts and d) generate lots of excitement for the [North American] November 4 release date."
And what of Resistance 2 as a whole? “The game is just about finished as I write this,” Price assured readers. “Yet the three to four weeks before we deliver a final disc to the factory are always the most difficult."
“This is when we’re fixing bugs, adding tons of polish, making tuning tweaks, and trying to keep our builds stable for the testing team," he went on. "What’s great is that all of our features are in, and the game is looking, sounding, and playing fantastic. Resistance 2 has become everything we hoped it would be.”
Not that Insomniac intends to rest on its laurels once the game ships. "We're extremely happy with where Resistance 2 is overall. That said, we're confident we'll continue to wring even more out of the PS3 over the next few years."

LOL @ comments stating that they already signed up for a PUBLIC beta. I think they have to look up the meaning of PUBLIC. The CLOSED beta, that's the one you had to sign up for and that one has already started a while ago.

Lol @ stef night hawk, you need to look up the difference between public and OPEN, just because its PUBLIC does not mean that everyone who wants to can be part of it, they will be limiting the number of public users that can trial the beta, hence it being public and not OPEN. check your facts before you start to poke fun at people
