PS3 confirmed as lead platform for Skate 2

According to EA Black Box producer Jason DeLong, upcoming sequel Skate 2 is being developed utilizing the PlayStation 3 as the lead platform.

“The PS3 has been our lead platform,” DeLong confirmed.

The reasoning behind this decision stems from various criticisms the first Skate title received in regards to the PS3 version not being up to par with its Xbox 360 counterpart.

"Something we learned very quickly that we had to remedy on the second one," DeLong explained.

"We’ve definitely been developing [both versions] in parity," said DeLong. “The goal is that if you put both versions side-by-side, you will not be able to tell the difference.”

Skate 2 is set to release sometime next year. Stay tuned for more information.

This is great. It's nice to know/see that EA are starting to become the decent developers that they once used to be.

Saying Lead platform then talking about developing in parity will confuse the usual.

Until they decide to make this the rule rather than the exception(for all their titles), I'm not convinced of their dedication. I'm hoping this decision comes from feedback from the PS community and they start doing things right. As of now the only thing from them that's interesting to me is Dead Space, but until the quality is confirmed, I won't be getting it.

@1 - The analog stick was better, yeah, but from a technical standpoint it was the gimped version.

Game Devs should start utilizing PS3's engine. It is alot more powerful than 360's and that's a fact. Though I am glad to see the PS3 being the lead on a game.
