A post over on Sony’s European PlayStation Forums has revealed that the platform holder is prepping the latest PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable Firmware updates for release on October 15.

For those who missed our earlier update and are wondering what all the fuss is about, PS3 Firmware 2.50 looks set to enhance a number of key functions, including improved Bluetooth headset support, along with Flash 9 support and an in-game screenshot grabber.

Over on the handheld front meanwhile, Firmware 5.00 adds an array of handy tools such as the added presence of a PlayStation Network icon on the XMB, allowing you to utilize your PSP to manage your account and download games providing you’re connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi.

they didnt mention the mid day 5 hour down time (2pm-7pm EST) that itll take PSN to update itself, meaning in that downtime you wont be able to access anything online via ps3

Nice one Sony!! I'm still praying there's at least one new music visualisation (for the PS3) or have modified the current MVs to react (at all) accordingly!!

I heard that support for the screenshots would be up to developers, so the games we have now might not actually be compatible. Hope I am wrong.

Makes sense. But why dont they just have Adobe make flash players for the PS3 & PSP syrtems so we could go to a website clik the link, and just like a pc, there's the PS os and a list of current flash players. That way we wont have to suffer till these guys decide to make custum flash.
