Sony has unveiled the first details and screenshots of an all-new 'Cafe' space for PlayStation Home.

As it stands there isn’t all that much to see, although a Sony rep was quick to remind users that the service is currently still in a beta phase, with the café set to evolve over time.

“As with all things in Home, the cafe evolves over time. Remember, we’re in BETA,” said the rep.

“It is a public space, for everyone’s enjoyment. Give it a spin, give us feedback, and watch it grow. We encourage you to actively participate in this BETA version of Home.”

“While specific events will be hosted in the Cafe, in the end it will be used for all the same purposes every other space in Home is - socializing with other PS3 users. That’s what Home is about. But that’s not to say that we can’t turn it into something different if that is what the community calls for. Ah, the joys of being in BETA…”

HOME is soooo boring at the minute. Why can't we cross over to the US & Hong Kong versions. That'd at least give us something different to do.

The red bull thing is ok, but you spend too long waiting to have a go. Surely the character should disappear once they are playing.

He seems all to quick to keep reminding everyone that it is still in BETA.

I think most people's problem with Home has really been, why is it still in BETA?

It's been in development almost as long as the cosmos, and now we have a cafe to look forward to.

I think by the time Home does evolve i would have long since left this world.

Yay, a cafe in Home...This is pointless, you go to cafe's to EAT, but what would be the point in that in Home? THERE ISNT ONE. And even if their is food we'll have to pay for it, ffs what is wrong with Sony?

  25. Alpha2

    • 7:13am EST - January 23rd, 2009

Yeah this is the japanese Home lounge, on the second floor they have a darts game and on the first floor there's a big cartoon fox holding a bigscreen TV showing videos... ALthough I'm thinking they may take those out. But there's also a meeting room on the second floor connected to a locked room that kinda looks like it's a magazine publisher or programer's office.

You knw why people complain about home? because they've lost the ability to relate to human beings. No one in home knows how to talk to each other, Half the people are guys sexually harrasing girls and the other half are guys pretending to be girls just to get attention... there are other people who actually use Home decently but we're so few that it's hard to see us for all the people crowded around a single female avatar. Maybe if people relearned the ability to actually talk to another human being they'd be able to actually enjoy Home.

    • 7:45am EST - January 23rd, 2009

@alpha2 aye yo you 100% correct i find that so funny that most of them tell a female avatar she look sexy etc..  what i hate the most is when bowling an idiot come rite in the middle of the lane and start dancing.

The way he tries to justify it being in Beta pretty much assures you that it's going to be at least somewhat lackluster, as it seems he's being almost insecure about the subject.

Jesus Christ people.Stop complaining about home. The new upcoming areas are free so what is your problem? The people this room is built for is people who can chillout and have a normal conversation with other people. It looks laid back, plus it has a PSN info scroll bar,a big t.v and a dart game.If you hate home so much dont use it.Its for people who want to play it.People seem to forget what a community is.

@39, you're missing the whole point of HOME.  Sony said it themselves that, basically what is happening right now in HOME is what Sony said it wasn't going to be, but in all reality that is exactly what it is, the complete opposite of what sony said it was going to be.   If it's a community then a dart board isn't going to cut it, even with 2 or 3 things to do.   Sony needs to step it up NOW,  A lot of people are disappointed in what HOME turned out to be rather then what they said it was going to be.                                                                                                                                   in the next few patches they better be prepared to throw in a ton of stuff because this is kind of a huge disappointment.  No one needs another empty room with nothing in it to talk, we already have those areas.

home would be so much better if it was mad,  like #2 said. godzila attacks would spice it up and random bombings and such like. buying guns would be good/

    • This is already available in the Japanese Home,  and on top there, there are computers and stuff.

It look pretty realistic.  They should make it an internet cafe.  And you could search the home web.  Kind of like the GTA 4 cafes.  Now that would be cool.  You could put up post and talk about yourself or search for homedates kind of like GTA 4.  Yeah my idea but GTA 4 did it first. Meet sexy foreign ladies. LOL

be nice if you could have like an open mic night in the cafe or something... people with mics/cams could sign up and be displayed for a few minutes.

Seems pointless. Im a huge Sony fan and defender of all things PlayStation but Home needs to move its butt and get the content that is going to let us communicate with other users in areas related to what we want to talk about...i.e. a Little Big Planet Space would be GREAT
