Blu-ray Warhawk requires 800 MB of HDD space

Warhawk is approaching quite fast, due to release at 12:01 EST on PSN this coming Tuesday. Gamers will also have the option of picking up a hard copy, or rather a Blu-ray version of the title from their local retail outlet.

Besides the fantastic extras including several behind the scenes features and a complementary bluetooth headset, several planned on picking up the Blu-ray alternative to save some precious HDD space.

Unfortunately, we've got bad news for those folks. It has recently been confirmed by a member of our forums who managed to get his hands on a copy of Warhawk early, Jags71, that Warhawk requires approximately 800 MB of space regardless of the version.

He says the Blu-ray "will place a 789 MB cache file onto your hard drive similar to the file Resistance places on your drive to reduce loading times. You CANNOT boot your copy from this cache file. You will need to place the disc into the PS3 to play the game."

Make sure to check out our review of Warhawk when it becomes available.

Better change the article dates thursday folks get psn version of the game. Thats a whole lot of hdd space being used. Hey much fun to all you eager beaver WHawkers out there! Although some of y'all who aren't sure about getting it, you may wanna read PSM's rather scathing review of WH (they gave it a 6.5/10 and LAIR-5.0/10, wow pretty bad coming from a reputable ps mag.)

You can delete the file. Just go to Game and it should be in the folder Game Data Utility like the Resistance file mentioned in the article. To delete just go to it and press triangle for your options

800MB isnt a lot.. not really.. I mean compared to Oblivion (4.6GB i think it is - in total maximum hard drive space) it's quite small.. but it doesnt really matter anyway, any PS3 can handle it.

800mb? Less than less than 1gb, the Darkness demo is bigger. But man, I wonder how big a download that's going to be when it finally goes up on the store?

did I miss something.... when did 800 MB become a lot of hard drive space?? It USED to be a lot..... not quite sure why anyone would be upset about this.

800 MB? Thats crazy for such a good game. Imagine if this game was 20g... Imagine how good it would be..

Back when this game was coming only to blu-ray, I heard the devs say it would stream from the disc as well as the HDD. This tells me the Blu-ray version will stream better. I doubt they would do that. Also, how can the PSN version be 800MB? It has to be over 2 gig for the full game.
