Valve explains Orange Box PS3 delay

The delay with Half Life 2: The Orange Box has had many people a little upset. Luckily, Valve has stated that the said delay isn't a problem with the PlayStation 3 console itself.

Marketing director Doug Lombardi stated that the EA UK team is simply behind on the development process compared to Valve's core team.

Lombari stated that just because the PS3 version was delayed, the others should not have been delayed as well: "We weren't going to hold up PC and 360 for PS3," Lombardi clearly stated. In addition, Valve believes the three versions will be identical in performance, which is good news for PS3 owners who have recently been getting a lot of ports that perform better on Xbox 360.

Currently, the PC and 360 versions will be released October 9th 2007 in the US followed by October 12th in Europe. The PC version is also likely to appear on Steam at midnight on the same days.

Wow since EA is handling this should we be thankful if the game even ships at 30 FPS?

But EA is mainly just publishing. I put a lot of faith in Valve. You could damn near run HL2 on anything. They're fantastic programmers

Well, at least they have a good explanation for having the PS3 version come out later than just saying, "Oh, we're still trying to figure out how the PS3 works...." Lazy developers..

Dragon1989, if you dont care, then why the hel1 do you post?  To be honorably mentioned on the front page as the person with most comments?  If you dont care, dont read, and shut up.

I hope this is worth it, I am still deciding on whether to get the full monty on PS3 or picking and choosing off of steam.   I guess I will wait and read reviews before I choose.

valves devoloping... EA's just publishing... I have always said EA sports is crap, but Ea puplishing is pretty good, as well as the development team for needforspeed series.... i have my hopes and expectations low(for any PS3 game)... that way im never dissapointed....

Jeeze... Cut me a break. No more delays on anything and I'm sick of the sloppy seconds & thirds jokes PS3 cops at work... Guys if PS3 was selling as much as Wii we would not be getting any delays. Im happy if someone can buy their PS3 for less than half the price I paid - if it means PS3 consoles will start to sell and then more games are produced.... I'm starvin here. F**k Blowray just drop the price of PS3 and get the wheels turning.

I'm willing to that we are still going to get a sloppy port compared to the 360 and PC.  It just seems to be the in thing with developers these days.

I'm with Morganator on this. And I honestly don't believe that they're "simply behind". Valve doesn't have a whole lot of love for the ps3. Simply behind or rather "encouraged" to take their time? Calling BS.

Ah screw VALVe, although I have been part of the "Half-Life" community since around 2000 before their steam platform, every game I always bought from them was terribly buggy. So many random issues that randomly pop up and go away within their programs. Plus, HL2 on the PC will always be better than its console ports.
