Sony announces latest PlayStation sales figures

It's keynote time, and that means it's number time.
So where do the PlayStation platforms stand? PS2 is sitting pretty at over 120 million units sold. PSP is at a respectable 26 million sold, with 30 million expected to be surpassed shortly.
So where does that leave PS3? According to Kaz, PS3 has sold in between 5 and 6 million units, leaning slightly towards the 5 million end.
Expectations are high for the holidays however - Sony expects to reach 11 million PS3's by the end of the year. We reckon reaching that goal without a price cut will be a challenge and perhaps even miracle.
We'll keep you updated on sales of all PlayStation platforms as the year progresses.

I think it very possible they sold 5 million with very few games and they will relise about 6+ proven to be awsome games in the next 3 months plus christmas gifts, so I thin its very possible and it will most definatly happen if they lower the price even a little.
6+ games: Ratchet, Uncharted, Haze, UT4, Hot Shots 5, Eye of Judgment (maybe not for everyone but I think it looks cool) oh and +

yeah you can add one extra digi to that count. I know I'm getting one this year!
unlike you rich boys I couldn't purchase one at launch (not many people could)
it makes me wonder
(PS3) 5m ... (PS2) 120m <- where the heck are these people at?? (I'm in here)

yeah they mean in the fiscal year (i believe).. meaning by the end of march 08 not by december, which 11 mill sounds right, otherwise it could mean 11 mil shipped not sold to consumers.. 1 of the 2

haha with home being delayed and no socom till 08 i doubt this, unless they come out with the new 40gb at 349$ that is the ONLY way, they will hit that target.. 400 is still a bit high and wont sell them 5 mill in 3 months..

about xbox sells number, it's quite impossible to know real user base, as 30 to 50% of the consoles are replacement one..
end of years is march 08 I too think (fiscal year)
with home delayed, no price cut (sony, do a 40g, no-wifi, no card reader, for the people who don't understand value-for-money, just price), no FF or no MGS4, I doubt sony will meat its objective.
But all this will change in 2008, home, MGS4 (THE system seller),other secret cards..

Larger than expected price cut on 80GB model with in game bundle. Plus higher spec PS3 120GB HDD and Rumble at $499 to follow come March. Two exclusive PS3 limited editions one white & one red. Lots of promotional coverage on MGS - Konami are already shipping these Stand/display things around the world. They are about 6ft tall and about the size of a big fridge - no idea what they look like (they are in brown boxes) but I do know who they are using as freight forwarder in Australia... :) Would anyone pay me if I got a photo???
