New Kingdom Hearts titles announced

While Square Enix has yet to announce the massively hyped Final Fantasy VII remake, they have certainly astounded the crowds at this years Tokyo Game Show with several other games, including three new titles in the Kingdom Hearts series.
The new games have been developed exclusively for handheld and mobile devices: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for the PlayStation Portable, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days for the DS, and Kingdom Hearts: Coded for mobile phones.
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is a single-player adventure title, which looks similar to the Kingdom Hearts games on the PS2, but is not the third in the series. The main character was not named, and is thought to be Zack from the Final Fantasy VII/Crisis Core games.
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days is a 3d action game with up to four-player co-op. The main protagonist is Roxas from KH2, and will feature members of Organization XIII in multiplayer.
Kingdom Hearts: Coded will likely be limited to Japanese cell phones, and will revolve around the characters from Kingdom Hearts. This title is looking to take place between the first and second titles from the PS2.
Each game has been said to have a "Time" theme, with Birth by Sleep being set in the "distant past," 358/2 Days is "time of the other side," and Code being "time has gone by."
We can't wait to hear more on each of these titles, and will continue to provide updates as they become available.

And just as I, and many others predicted, no Kingdom Hearts 3. I'm actually relieved that they didn't announce it yet. Otherwise I'd be d**n worried for the development process of Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII, since that is also the Kingdom Hearts team. And it would have to be split to make Kingdom Hearts 3. Like I said, it's best to wait until FFXIII and VS XIII are done. Then maybe a split of the same team can go to KH3 and (wishful thinking) FFVII.

hum ... an article about the new Kingdom Hearts' and no mention on Sora, Donald or Goffy ...
One of these are for the PSP right - I dont care about the rest you can have them

No KH 3 yet. I'm glad I've got a PSP and a DS though. These should both be good games.

This spin-off crap is really getting on my nerves. I'd like a KH3, but all these handheld sequels/prequels of good console games is ridiculous. FF7 has a bunch, Final Fantasy Tactics has some, Kingdom Hearts...WTF Square? You do realize some people don't have the time, patience, or they just don't want to sit there playing games on tiny 3" screens...why not release these games for current consoles as well? I'd love to play Crisis Core and some of these new KH titles, but 'm not going to go out and buy a PSP or DS...I have no reason to sit on my couch and strain my eyes playing a freaking hand held game. I've been out of school for years, I don't go on long car rides with mommy and daddy, I'm not 12 years old...I don't need a goddamn handheld system...for christ's sake make these available on consoles.

But seriously... that was a nice rant. Anything else you might like to add? Something productive, perhaps? And besides, with all the cool features of Remote Play coming out, there's hardly any reason not to buy a PSP.

I get the DS and PSP versions...but....what the crap is this mobile phone stuff? Last time I checked phones still aren't a viable solution for gaming

See, there is a reason not to buy a psp...I'm not paying nearly $200 on a handheld that I hook up to my TV. Might be fine for some people, It just pisses me off that all these great games that got their start on PS1 or PS2 are getting sequels on handhelds. I mean, yeah, tv-output is nice and all, and I already knew about that, but I just find having to buy an extra console from the same company to play sequels to games that were popular on consoles you already have is ridiculous. I mean, even if Sony released something to play PSP games on your PS3 without needing an actual PSP, the way Nintendo did for GBA and GameCube would be nice. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying "handhelds suck and every game on them should be made for consoles instead", I would just like to be able to play some PSP games on my PS3 without having to drop $200 on something I'll never use.
I will admit though, the Remote Play thing is wicked, and being able to connect to your PS3 from anywhere and play music you have stored on it from your PSP is amazing. That's the one thing that might sway me into buying one...If I can hook my 160gb usb hard drive to my PS3 and listen to 2500 different CDs from anywhere I go, that to me is worth the price.
As for adding something productive...my rants are never productive...I'm a mean and vindictive person that has no reguard for other people's feelings or opinions :P

Well maybe Crisis Core will be released on the PS2 in the future, If they think they get alot of money out of it they will after some time. The same happened with GTA.
I hope they will still KH3, but after this I expect them to announce it after these 3 are released.

I wouldn't put this all onto SE. Sony needs these games to sell PSPs. They were lagging far far behind the DS and need killer games on the PSP just as much if not more than the PS3. I would say Sony had huge influence in having these games made rather than on PS3. Besides, SE is making a FF game for the PS3. I am sure they will make KH3 as soon as they finish the FF game. So what exactly are you complaining about? If I am not mistaken KH2 just came out not too long ago on the PS2. You do realize there are WAY more PSP owners out there than PS3 owners right? Why would SE flood the PS3 market with games when there aren't even enough people that own a PS3 to make the game profitable. I would say SE stands to lose money on the FFXIII game for PS3. PS3's sales numbers are so dismal so why make a bunch of PS3 games that stand to lose money when you can make PSP games that will break the bank? Its about the money my friend.....and when the PS3 has sold enough consoles to make it profitable to start releasign mass games on it....they will.
