No demo planned for Assassin's Creed

Assassin’s Creed Producer Jade Raymond has confirmed that developer Ubisoft will not be issuing a demo of the highly anticipated action/adventure prior to its release this November.

"No, we're not making a demo”, said Raymond, during a Q&A session at last months Tokyo Games Show.

Raymond cited the titles sandbox-style gameplay as the main reason for the decision, stating, "There was no way to really make a demo," adding, "and I think that's the same reason that games like GTA don't have a demo - when you have a city it's hard to figure out exactly what you put on there."

She revealed that a solution to the problem was addressed, but in the end all efforts proved to be ineffective.

Due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Assassin’s Creed takes place in the year 1191, during the Third Crusade. Gamers will assume the role of a consummate assassin named Altair - a member of the deadly Hashshashin sect, whose mission is to eliminate nine historical figures.

Gameplay is completely open ended, and events will change depending on your actions throughout the game as you explore a series of meticulously crafted historical cities and locations.

Stay tuned for more coverage here at PSU in the coming months.

Saints Row had a DEMO and that was a sandbox-style game, so it looks to me that they are eather still having the same problems thay had at E3 or there just being lazy.

Ugh, stupid. They CAN make a demo for it, based on a time limit like the demo for "Skate." and others! >.> You could play something like the full game on that demo including missions, but had a time limit. So why not give you a time limit or "event limit"? Simply idiotic and lazy.

the game is not gonna live up to the hype (or what's left of it, lol), releasing a demo will just hurt the potential sales (preorders mostly).

It would be lame becuase they would give to much of the game to way and would be hard to judge where you can go and how much your aloud to see. If i remember quests or missions sometimes take up half the map. Just buy the game, it will probabley be one of the best games of the year.

Well I guess they are dedicated on meeting the release so all their energy is in that area as of now. Can't be helped, rather have a full-fledged an finished game than have a half of one.

I'm always wary when a dev says "no demo", especially when previews have been mixed. The game sounded extremely promising, but as OPM said, it's creaking under its own ambition. Sounds to me like they don't want to put people off with a demo.

Not everyone reads the forums. The forums are a completely seperate URL from the News so chances are a random person on the net checking google will see these before they see the stuff in the forum.

Anyway... Personally I think this is a bad sign. You want to make a demo of a free roam world the best thing to do is have a circular radius around a central area that way you might still have a lot of distant architeture but you wouldnt need the higher resolution textures that you;d need if you actually got close to them.

I think they're trying to hide the fact that this game isnt turning out as cool as it should. So I'm sure as heII not buying it sight unseen. I'm excecting a lot of low scores.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!?!?!?!?!?!?!?   It means that they cant get it to work right, and still plays like crap...this was a DAY 1 purchase, heck i was wanting to preorder it....but after seeing how many bugs it has, and them going really going sci-fi, blah! this is a definite rent now...........
