Terminator 3 confirmed for Blu-ray

Warner Home Video has announced that the company will be bringing Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines to Blu-ray on December 4.

The film had previously been available on HD-DVD, though was unable to make the transition to Sony’s high definition format due to the absence of the IME (In Movie Experience). However, with Blu-ray now featuring Profile version 1.1, Warner is now able to release it with Picture-in-Picture IMI fully intact.

The Blu-ray release will include features similar to its HD-DVD counterpart, including 1080p VC-1 video and Dolby Digital Audio. Also available will be deleted scenes, commentary, as well as a special introduction by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines takes place a decade after the events of the second film, with the now-adult John Conner living “off the grid”, as to evade any possible detection by infamous Skynet Corporation. However, Conner, 25, now finds himself pursued by an even more potent killing machine sent from the future: the T-X, played by Kristanna Loken.

His only hope of survival lies in the hands of The Terminator (Schwarzenegger), who has been sent back in time to ensure the protection of Conner, in addition to his future wife, Katharine Brewster (Claire Danes) Together, they must find a way of shutting down Skynet indefinitely, or face certain annihilation at the hands of the machines as Judgement Day looms ever closer.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is due out on Blu-ray from December 4.
