In a recent interview, assistant producer at Kojima Productions Ryan Payton revealed that they have over 200 developers working hard on the upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
"...The game is definitely under a lot of pressure, because the way things are turning out, this could be the first "must have" PlayStation 3 title on store shelves”, he said.
“Or, if not the first, then the second or the third. So, in that sense, there's a lot relying on it. People at Sony know that, and we've got literally 200 guys working on this title, day and night, making sure that it's perfect," Payton added.
"...We've been just beefing up the team as we get deeper and deeper into development. And then maybe after the game is finished, we'll get a little bit leaner and meaner, but right now we've got over 200 people working on it," he continued.
Kojima has already confirmed that they will be utilizing Blu-ray to the fullest and with one of the largest development teams for one title; they should undoubtedly have the manpower to accomplish the task.
Stay tuned for more information.

Priority #1. What ever it costs, whatever resources are needed - do it.
MGS 4 must be the greatest game of all time - nothing short. Everything relies on it being so.

I hope that the release date for this game is on track and that it stays exclusive to PS3 (a port to PC would be ok, but only if it's a 6-12 delay!). Although, I can't see how X360 can ever get this game! Not on one disc anyway!

Does any one know if they are using single layer or double layer blu-rays? I want to see someone use a whole 50GB, and if any recent game is going to use it, I would guess that it would be MGS4.

Blachaze - I agree, MGS 3 is a hard act to follow. Story wise & gameplay innovation - it stood out on PS2 like a beakon of light.
Having said that - MGS 4 will be a console maker or breaker and hence there is a lot riding on snakes shoulders. So far we have been let down quite a few times with PS3 - so I pray they dont let us down with this one. Make this a winner!

I dont like this game, but I would purchase it... Seems like they will be the first to take PS3 all the way, well at least as far as anyone has gotten.

@MatrixSixaxis, no, not even the hardware would be able to run this, even if the 360 HAD enough storage space to hold this game.
@Anthony, it's going to be double layered.
@The Cleaner, while I admit, this is a MASSIVE title for the PS3, we still have a crapload of other exclusives to back us up. And they weren't bad. The only one to not get flat out awesome reviews was Lair and I personally thought it was a good game and so did a crapload of other people. No other exclusives have really been a letdown.
