The next instalment in the popular Commando series will be available for users to download over the PlayStation Network later this year, Capcom announced today at its Gamers Day event in London, England.

Developed by the same studio responsible for Super Puzzle Fighter 2 HD Turbo Mix, Commando 3 allows up to three players to duke it out together either online or on a single console, choosing between four distinctive difficulty settings.

Characters available include Antonio Ramirez Carranza (aka “Animal”), a mysterious female named Smoke and veteran combatant Roy McMurray (aka “Boomer”) The game will feature a host of weaponry including Shotguns, Rocket Launchers and Grenades, in addition to over 10 specialised power-ups.

Furthermore, online leadership boards have also been confirmed, as well as the ability to drive a series of cooperative-based vehicles.

Stay tuned for more details as they break.

It's not really trying when they're only just finally doing their job. And they're still not doing a very good job when they still have one more game that needs to go multiplatform before anyone will believe their claims of being impartial right now. As for this Commando game if it's the studio that did that HORRIBLE Super puzzle fighter HD Remix then I dont hink it's going to even remotely be something we can count in our favor.

the big announcment wasnt so bad being a multiple game announcement, but nothing huge was for ps3 owners except for lost planet.

Commando 3 is clearly supposed to be based loosely on the original Commando game that Ikari Warriors and Heavy Barrel would eventually take their cues from. I saw a really badly filmed trailer for it on Youtube and it looks a lot more like Those games now but with spreader weapons and lasers. they're also taking a lot from the PSN shooters like Blast Factor , Everyday Shooter and Super Stardust with the full range directional shooting on the right stick.
