Army of Two delayed till 2008

Today Electronic Arts announced that they will be delaying Army of Two until next year to let the development team put finishing touches on the game.

"Game quality is our top priority. Army of Two has potential to become a lasting EA franchise -- so getting the first title right is essential," said President of the EA Games Label. "The team at EA Montreal thinks that more time for polish will make the game truly great. We're going to trust the team and give Army of Two a few more months in the studio. Army of Two will ship in first quarter of calendar 08."

If you recall, EA has stated in the past that they want to ship Army of Two when it's perfect. In July, lead designer Chris Ferriera stated, "We want the first game to be perfect, because if we launch an IP and it isn't what we want to make and isn't made to the right quality level, then the future for the franchise doesn't exist. We want to really build something strong."

This suggests that EA plans to release at least one sequel, something that is uncommon with the company's franchises.

Awesome, thank god it's delayed, now I will have more time to earn money to get all these friggin games I want. But Assassins Creed BETTER NOT GET DELAYED. I want that game more than any other right now and I will kill if it comes later.

Yah.. i think they are just taking extra time to do a couple small things and plus all the other games releasing. Well as long as it comes out good the wait is worth it.

Army of two is officially a dead game. People were barely looking foward to this game and now getting pushed back, the worst possible thing to happen aside from getting cancelled will absilutly destroy hype for this game.

Well, wait a second....was it difficulties programming the PS3, or was it difficulties fitting the game on a DVD for the Xbox 360 that REALLY caused this delay? Just glad they're announcing a "delay" and not making some bogus reason for it!

You think EA is finally getting it together to release a GOOD game to us?  I mean Godfather wasnt bad, in fact I still play it, was quite disappointed with EA Sports' franchises as of late.

Why am I not surprised to see another delay by EA. (Hey that rhymes) They are nothing more than incompetent.

    • 6:20pm EDT - October 22nd, 2007

I agree with NY Young...How can anyone be shocked that EA delayed another game. Is this an exclusive? If it is, I really not surprised. They're in the Gates pocket. If it was that they were worried about R&C, COD4, or Haze, they don't need to wait til the next year. Just wait 'til Dec to release. Have it out for the holidays. Game developers have it out for the PS3 cause they pushed the envelope and are making it kind of hard to create for it. Babies.
