MGS4 takes Snake across continents

The producers of Metal Gear Solid 4 have revealed that you'll be able to play as Snake around the world in the game, expected to be released in Q2 2008.

The trailer of the game sees the main character in what appears to be Middle East type scenery, but Ryan Payton, of Kojima Productions, has said that MGS4 will be set up across four or five different locations.

Although the core of the action will take place in the Middle East, he stated that you will also be able to play in South America and Eastern Europe as you progress through the game.

No plot has yet been confirmed, and the best Payton could offer was to say that you'll start the game in the Middle East and then progress into Eastern Europe.

Metal Gear Solid 4, titled Guns of the Patriots on PS3, brings a totally new concept and situation from previous games and promises to provide the toughest missions ever devised.

I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY SNAKE AGAIN!!! I've been replaying the previous games and practising my stealth ability so that I can be ready for MGS4! I wonder if they'll release a special edition? (ie. Substance, substitence?,whatever.) Or will they just release patches for it? Hmmm...anyways, I can't wait....for another 8-10 months??? :(

What are you talking about, 8 - 10 months?

MGS4 is slated for a Q1 2008 release as far as I'm aware...i.e. between February and April if i remeber the way the Games Industry breaks up the year.  So at the most it should be out in april which is only 6 months away...

@JD-82 read back on the article from last week from here or some other games site. It was officially announced by Konami that there is a delay and won't be released until Q2 of 2008! Consequently, Konami shares have dropped to a new low! :(  I just there aren't anymore delays come 2008. Catch ya!

psn id: gingo.. he also said this was going to be a huge game which i hope means long because MGS games aren't usually that long but if this is a good length it could be the greatest game of all time because the gameplay and graphics are absolutely stunning

I wonder how the progression of each continental portion of the thread will effect the lifespan of Snake and how some of the old Gears will come into play as well.

If this game is set in another few locations, and so far from the looks of it, it has all been in the middle east, the game will never be beaten!

Why is this news? I myself have known this since 2005. I know for a fact that MGS4 was confirmed to take place in multiple locations back in 06.

    @ secretsquirrel

All of the MGS2 videos prior to release were of the tanker - and the tanker only accounted for 1.5 hours of the total game.

I'm hoping all of these various locations don't hurt the storytelling too much. To me, MGS has always been about the United States government affairs and whatnot.  I love the whole conspiracy plotlines and such...hope the globetrotting doesn't interfere in all of the MGS goodness
