One of the original videogame horror titles is set to make its appearance on the PlayStation 2, Wii, Xbox 360 and PC later this year, with Atari finally confirming the game will be released in May 2008.

Alone in the Dark 5 will be a revival of a horrific videogame series which began in 1992 for the PC. While a PlayStation 3 version is in development, a release date has not yet been given, though it is expected to hit shelves some time later this year.

Alone in the Dark 5 places gamers into a modern day setting filled with detailed puzzles, non-figurative story and horrific settings. The game will be divided into a number of 30-40 min episodes, which will all end in cliffhangers, leaving the player gasping for more. Each time the player loads up a saved file, a video will appear showing what happened in the previous episode, giving gamers a more immersive feel to the story and environment like a classic horror flick.

A handheld release is also planned, though it is currently unknown when it will arrive.

ONCE AGAIN PS3 left out in the cold. Why don't you guys halt the other versions until the PS3 version catches up. There really is no excuse for this kind of crap.

If the PS3 version is TBD, then why is this even news, that's arriving in May on the other consoles?

What I don't get is that all this talk about rising development cost associated with new gen hardware. One would think that they would really concentrate on completing all versions to get the most bang for their buck, yet the ps3 always lags behind in release dates. If it gets crappy reviews, then what's the point of releasing a ps3 version if chances are good it will also do horribly? Then again, maybe that's what their banking on before committing any further resources.

They'd better conpensate for the delayed release of the PS3 version!!  Additional characters and extra/different levels and other bonuses would be almost satisfying!!!

If we don't get compensation for our delays then I won't bother.  I had planned on picking this game up but if they can't deliver, then I won't bite.
