After months of speculation, Konami has finally confirmed that it is bringing the PlayStation Portable title, Silent Hill Origins, to Sony’s PlayStation 2 console some time in 2008.
Although a release date wasn’t specified, the company did reveal it plans to make some alterations to the game’s controls to facilitate combat situations on the PS2, but didn’t mention anything in the way of additional content or special features.
The game serves as a prequel to the original 1999 release, pitting gamers in the shoes of truck driver Travis O’ Grady, who finds himself caught up in the fog bound streets after rescuing a young girl from nearby house fire.

No PS2 support on PS3 - Its a dead end. They better make it cheap enough not to copy. I'd say about $2 should do it. Im not spending on any PS2 titles that's for sure.
The latest Bloomberg interview with Mr Hairy bum boy shows that Hirai is happy to dump BC support so they can sell all the PS2 games back to us at a later date as downloads... What a poof
Speaking to Bloomberg, Hirai said, "We want to promote games only available for PlayStation 3. The introduction of the 40-gigabyte model is in line with that strategy". That is: there is no backward support for legacy PS2 products.
One of Hirai's fellow bum boys then commented: "When we launched, we said we would focus on forward production than backwards-compatibility, but there was more of a need for backwards-compatibility six months ago. So, from here on in, there are no plans for backwards-compatibility in PlayStation products."
Anyone who pays money for PS2 titles here on in needs their head examined. Sony has burned a lot of trust as far as Im concerned.

The 40 gig is the only SKU without backwards comp. There are over 127mil+ PS2 out there to use for PS2 games. Downloading compatible version of PS2 games for the PS3 would be a GREAT move by Sony. Most of us could care less about PS3 BC. We are all wanting the Next-Gen games!!
