US retailer Gamestop has posted the official boxart for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Soul Calibur IV on its website.

Thematically, it would seem Namco Bandai has decided to take advantage of the “Light” and “Dark” Side setting to represent Yoda and Darth Vader, who will appear exclusively in the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game, respectively.

Soul Calibur IV is the second game in the series to feature platform-specific characters, the first being Soul Calibur II, released on the GameCube, PS2 and Xbox. The fourth instalment in the popular fighting series is due for release this summer.

from an eye catching stand point I say the 360 version has the edge, but the ps3 version is definitly a lot more engrossing. If you happen to stop and glance at it for a moment, you'll be pulled in, inevitably, to the dark siiiiiiide ;)

You can bet that Namco will put Yoda as a downloadable character on PS3 & Darth Vader as a downloadable character for X360.

    Both are excellent!

If reference to the 360 box, once looked at with detail it looks great but I swear the first thing you notice is Yoda and that could instantly make someone thing Starwars and if they didn't like star wars they'd completely overlook the fact that its soul calibur... while the PS3's Vadar is somewhat more blended and less a focal point.

If someone gave me the choice; Vader or Yoda.. i'd take Vader anyday. I do like the 360 cover art though.. but to me they're on par with one another. I like them both equally here.. maybe the PS3 a tad more cause it has Darth on the front. Who doesnt like that bad-ar$e?

I like the PS3 box art better, I just love the black background. The Xbox 360 version box art just matches the top with the "Xbox 360" lettering and the PS3 box art just matches the "Playstation 3" lettering.

Granted, I like both boxes.... this is a Soul Calibur game, not Star Wars. Funny that Namco would put the two "Joke" characters on the boxart. Blending the Star Wars and Soul Calibur Universe's may be fun, but honestly they are completly different and I just find it strange that bonus characters would make the front cover. Soul Calibur can sell just fine without Star Wars influence, thank you very much.

I'm just a wee bit upset we dont get siegfried on the PS3 cover, but thats just cause he's my favourite character in the series. The PS3 cover is grand, I love it, this is gonna be an interesting game....however..they HAVE to keep the character creation thing
