Littlewood confirms Haze does not run in HD

Derek Littlewood, Creative Lead on the forthcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive Haze, has confirmed that long-awaited First Person Shooter (FPS) will not run in high definition.

Contrary to reports, the game will run in 1024×576 (576p) as opposed to 1024×720 (720p), leaving the PS3 to upscale.

“We prioritise a nice smooth framerate over a different res,” commented Littlewood.

“Personally, I don’t really buy the whole thing. People did the same with Call of Duty, they did the same with Halo, and they say with those games ‘It’s not running at true HD!’ And it’s like, ‘I don’t care’. If the game looks good and it runs smoothly, those are the important things to me.”

Haze is due out on May 20 in North America, with a European release following on May 23.

Respect to LITTLEWOOD, finaly someone who doesn't give a d... . I'd choose good games over nice specs anytime. Thanks for that.

I was never too concerned about the resolution games used, plus the ps3 upscales the game anyway.  As long as the game plays well

PSU got the 720p res wrong.  720p is 1280x720p not 1024x720p.

And to Littlewood, yea I don't give a d**k either, but Call of Duty 4 (PS3) does not appear to have a layer of vaseline over the image.  It definatly is a bit, hazy..

they dont want a higher res cuz they will port 2 the 360 and they won't be able 2 cram evrything into a 360 disk

Yeah but hes talking about COD online, not COD single player, which does run in HD.

Nah, they should really make better res. games. It's kind of annoying when everything under 1080p looks crap on my screen and almost all the games are like 720p :p

yeah i played the demo and found myself playing the most boring shooter ever. what were the developers THINKINGINGINGING

The demo graphics were not in hd, i was a bit disappointed. I mean the screen shots look awesome but when I played the demo I was disappointed in the graphics. They are no where near UNCHARTED (a real PS3 game!!!!!)  If they scaled the graphics down for easier porting to the 360 then this game is a failure before launch.  Its sad that we waited all this time for our "Halo Equivelant" for it to be plagued with delays and bad graphics ect. ect. ect..  I will wait for signaficant reviews before  buying/renting this game.    already a disappointment!!

Frack, if sh!t like COD4 and Halo3 aren't even in 720p the the hel with it! Games that look that good at those resolutions prove HD is over rated.

Halo3 doesn't look good at all, nor does this demo of haze (and cod online looked pretty good, but not fantastic), i couldn't even finish the haze demo. I had much higher expectations from the game.  But there's Ubisoft for ya, they are use to making multiplateform, no hd means you can fit more on a disc... at least thats what i got from it. But this makes it easier for me, now i'll just wait for killzone 2 and/or resistance 2

so....if this is true what that guy is saying...erm... how again did these folks at naughty dog create uncharted? That has probably the best gfx technology available in consoles and a rock solid framerate? And on top of that runs at a crisp native, true 720p?

Sounds to me like those people at free radical are not up to date , or simply lazy to make a proper next gen game. And they told us that all the delays would be worth the wait...im so glad the game is gonna flop majorly...

Agreed. All they are doing now is damage control, they already know they have a flop on their hands. They always did. They tried to make a Halo clone for the PS3, with the altenative to porting it to the console that actually has Halo (without making it better than Halo 3...which should have been easy). I hate to see developers fail after all that work, but it's their fault that they didn't try hard.

if the games look good? seriously this guy is stupid. your game don't look good at all after playing the demo. Saving this money for MGS 4

This just slipped a bit down my list. Damn, and we were so close to release.

I want to recant my statement:I'm still getting it. I'm not going to let something like this spoil it for me. It does, however, make me awfully suspicious(tech-preping to come to 360 maybe?). There should be no reason for it to have fallen below 720p minimum. Plenty of other developers have achieved higher specs.

It looked just fine to me..so I dont giva a .... Stable code, frame rate, features, good online  and single player storyline is what is importent to make a great game!
