Sega has revealed that it will be offering all-new downloadable content for the Japanese version of its popular tactical RPG outing, Valkyria Chronicles.

Available this August, gamers will be able to download Hard EX mode, which offers a more challenging difficulty in addition to several new items and a “free battle” option.

Furthermore, players can also fork out for “Edie's side story" for roughly JPY 600 (USD 6), which offers fully voiced story sequences as well as all-new battles to conquer.

Valkyria Chronicles is due out in North America in November 2008. It is currently unknown whether or not the above content will be included in the game’s western release.

Stay tuned.

It's good to see the PS3 getting a real RPG. I thought the world was turning upside down when the 360 was dominating the RPG field, but the PS3 was winning with FPS games. Armageddon, anyone?
