Bioshock PS3 visuals no different than 360 version?

According to Bioshock senior producer Melissa Miller, the PS3 version of Bioshock will only meet the same visual quality of that seen in Xbox 360 version.
“We’re looking to match the quality of the original version,” Miller commented. “We want to make sure that the water is just as great, and I think you can see from the demonstration, that it looks no different from the 360 version.”
One of our contributing editors, Dave Wales, got some hands-on time with the title at this year's E3, and he assured me otherwise.
"One of the very first things you’ll notice within BioShock [PS3] is that all anti-aliasing issues are now gone. There were absolutely no edging issues or jaggedness to any portions of what was displayed on screen," said Wales. "I almost felt like I was staring at a redesigned title."
So, who to believe, the game's producer or a co-worker? I have to trust Dave with this one.
The PS3 version of the Bioshock has been confirmed to include all original content from the Xbox 360 and PC versions as well as all patches and DLC. In addition, the PS3 version will include its own exclusive content in the form of "Challenge Rooms" and a ridiculously challenging 'survivor' difficulty.
Bioshock on the PlayStation 3 is set to release this October.

if you're going to port the game, your aim should always be to try and match a previous version. That's just logic. But if you can make it better you owe it not only to your customers but also to your product to do all you can to make it sell.
If they back down from making it better on PS3 out of some weird need to make the game "the same" when they could make it "better" then they're fools and the game should suffer for it, but if it SHOULD be better if they can because they want more money.

Way to overachieve there 2K. A whole year later and you can't give us PS3 owners a little something to look forward to? Conspiracy theory alert: If I had to guess I'd say that they don't want to piss of MS by making the game better on a rival console. No need to do anything extra for Sony right? We should just be lucky to get the game let alone a version that "could" look better than the 360 version. I think it's almost a slap in the face that they didn't at least go back and refine the visuals or do something to take advantage of the Blu-ray format. Lie to me if necessary but to just say that they're making sure it looks the same as the 360 after more than a year is just lazy. It's not like they have anything else to worry about like multiplayer or a ton of extras. Anyway, I may still get it but I'm 100% sold yet.

That's good. No 360 owner complains and the field's fair. No "BIOSHUCK IS BETTAR ON TEH PS-TREE!, XBUX 3SUCKY SUCKS SUCKS!!!". - It's very fair of 2k and I support that movement to match the 360's visual integrity instead of surpassing it. Thats' what all multiplatform games should be like.

I agree with incredibilistic and hush404. This whole "console war" is about propaganda lies and money. wheres the love of games. Why the heck did microsoft have to ruin the spirit of gaming. Sony nintendo sega and pc all would have been better off without them.

I agree that M$ was bad for gaming, I said it when they first entered the industry that they were a distablizing force thatwas going to hurt more than help.
On the other hand untill we know if they were just trying to say that you shouldnt expect te PS3 version to be WORSE, thenwe can't really say this is perticularly an M$ plot.
Again, they could just be trying to say that, at the very LEAST, the PS3 version will look AS good as what has come before, A guarentee that it wouldnt be WORSE so to speak,

If you guys were really interested in this title than most everyone has already played it on the PC or 360. No reason to add another title to the growing list of crappy PS3 ports.

Regardless of what the situation is, you can bet the farm that it'll get a lower score than the 360 version. As well as a slew of snide "been there, done that" comments from the media. There should be nothing wrong with commenting that they've enhanced the visuals. The 360s time came and went. Now that it's the PS3s turn in the spotlight, you can rest assured that anyone with even the slightest bit of sway will try to dim it. PS3FTW!!!
