Codemasters has officially unveiled development of fantasy sequel Overlord II for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms.

Due for release in 2009, Overlord II draws inspiration from the rise of the Roman Empire, and features a new Overlord and all-new powerful army of minions to command as players attempt to overthrow the Glorious Empire.

"We're really excited about shifting the world to a new era where a Roman-inspired Empire rises as the arch-enemy of the Overlord, which leads to an epic clash between the regimented forces of a sprawling state and the faster, harder, more manic minion horde,” commented Triumph Studios’ Lennart Sas.

Minions are now much more aggressive, capable of destroying whole buildings and scenery as they square up against the highly organised forces of the Glorious Empire. Furthermore, Minions can also mount wolves in addition to various other magical creatures to ride into the heat of battle.
