In a job posting on the Kojima Productions site, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has thrown a bit of a tantrum about modern videogame marketing.
Here’s the key sentence – you can blame Kotaku for the slightly dodgy translation:
"The creativity of video games is now on the verge of crisis. Massive advertising campaigns are executed for games before their entertainment values are put into consideration all too often, resulting in sell-off tactics happening without hesitation."
As Kotaku rightly points out, this is a bit much coming from the man behind Metal Gear Solid 4 – hardly the least hyped of videogame commodities. In Kojima’s defence, though, Solid Snake’s latest outing largely lived up to expectations.
