Infinity Ward offers half-price COD4 variety maps

Infinity Ward has slashed the price of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety map packs and is offering double experience points to those who heed the Call this weekend. On Xbox Live, anyway, but don't fret - the PlayStation 3 will get its turn around September 18.

The developer also plans to reintroduce the Prestige Gamer pic pack to Live Marketplace (and hopefully the PlayStation Store) in response to fan feedback.

"This is all going down exclusively on Xbox Live this weekend," community liaison officer Robert Bowling explained on his blog, "But don’t worry PS3 players, because we’ll be doing the same for you guys; but due to schedule conflicts we couldn’t do them back to back so the PS3 weekend will be closer to Sept the 18th (I’ll have a dedicated post for our PS3 users on that event), but you can expect some of the same benefits and festivities."

Call of Duty 4 is still wildly popular across both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and you can expect it to stay that way till the likes of Resistance 2 make berth.

How about more maps instead? They made a lot of money off the first mappack, why did they never release another one?

@4  Come on, man.  Think.  Activision has a new COD4 coming.  They have to ween everyone off of this one.

    EDIT:  Not "COD4", but COD....duh.

Even at half price I'll not buy the map pack, with good games around the corner why bother, if they gave us the cut at around E3 that would have been considered.

If they don't release trophies the 18th, which is my theory that they will, then MS has bought IW!

I remember when the first map pack came out. Everyone was so excited and it was double exp weekend. Now most matches everyone votes to skip them. I've only got to play the Kill House once and that was in Team Tact.

I only play COD4 in a private match with a few friends, usually snipers only.  I can't wait for the new one because it's really getting boring.
