Future and Sony announce UK Qore clone

Sony Europe and titanic UK pulped-wood-and-ink firm Future Publishing are at work on a UK interactive magazine similar to Sony America's Qore.

The new publication is pencilled in for a UK PlayStation Network launch early next year, and will subsequently roll out to other European territories. Unlike Qore, issues will be released weekly. You can expect the same mix of article content - news, reviews, previews, etc - plus exclusive game content provided by first and third party publishers.

Doubtless Sony and Future will have nailed down some hefty advertising contracts to boost the old bank balance. According to Future CEO Robert Price, "this product will provide a unique way for advertisers to connect directly with gamers through their consoles using the very latest high definition content."

Sony Computer Entertainment UK (SCE UK) Managing Director Ray Maguire is pretty upbeat on the whole affair, naturally:

"As PlayStation 3 moves the gaming experience to a more social and competitive online environment, so the natural development in line with our consumers’ choice of media is to produce a companion publication in the digital realm,” he said.
