Killzone 2 environments: "not just grey urban wasteland"

It appears that dark city slums and warehouses are not the only locations players will visit while exploring the world of Killzone 2.

Speaking on the Official PlayStation forums, Guerrilla Games Q&Q Manager Seb Downie promised users, "[Helgan] is not just grey urban wasteland."

Downie's comments go with EGM's August issue Killzone 2 preview, which states that some levels will highlight the "natural beauty" of Helghan.  While this doesn’t mean that you’ll be taking in grassy hills and crystal blue oceans, it does serve as an indication that players will get a chance to venture outside of the grey cities and tackle different environments than what's been shown in the trailers.

Killzone 2 is set to release this February. Stay tuned for more information.

If they released this game and showed the planet as grey wasteland I would automatically call the story garbage, unless they said it took a fallout MAYBE! I like the idea of some more Uncharted level of brightness areas!

From playing it there are some areas with thinner metal walls you can shoot through but for the most part no..absolutely nothing like cod4..and that is GREAT! COD 4 and 5 was about watering down the online gaming so anyone can play it and be competitive. anything that requires skills in cod4 and 5 was taken out....like aiming???? uh steady aim...no use of scoping.....marterdom...die..that means you get to kill people, and reload glitches and so on...i didn't see any of that in killzone...it takes alot of work to aim on that game....i'm going to love fragging people that don't know how to use the sights because all they do in cod4 and 5 is no scope....lol.

This means gray, brown, and if they decide to go really crazy with the colors they'll put in extra dark brown.

Well, I for one will be glad.  Not that it's just Killzone...but too many of these "next gen" shooters have been almost totally in shades of gray or brown.  One of the reasons I liked Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank so much was that there was actual COLOR! :)
