Naughty Dog’s Bruce Straley has claimed that Uncharted has already established the same level of popularity as Lara Croft’s archaeologist exploits in Eidos’ long running Tomb Raider franchise.
Speaking with CVG in regards to how Drake fares up to his nearest competitor in the striking, yet nimble Croft, Straley said, “Why, do you think he’s not already there, if not beyond that point already, in terms of popularity?”
“I feel that Nathan Drake can stand on his own in any line up of the video game pantheon.”
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is currently scheduled for release exclusively on PlayStation 3 later this year. So far we’ve learned that the game will take place in a number of locations completely disparate of the original game’s lush jungles and abandoned forts, with the AI in particular shaping up to be especially brutal.
Keep your eyes peeled for more information as we get it.
